The placement on Raycom Cincinnati sister station WXIX/19.2 also says it launches in January...but other Raycom stations in the south do not have that caveat.

The Showtime signal was terrestrial microwave similar to, but not the same as ITFS (I think that was the acronym, it stood for instructional television fixed service). ITSF was the multichannel service originally used for TV in schools that originated from local PBS stations. At one point the FCC allowed the license holders (in Cleveland's case WVIZ) to lease the signal for commercial service. A service called "Metro Ten" used part of WVIZ's ITFS signal. At least one channel was shared with the Greater Cleveland Hospital Association. I remember watching GCHA programming in my Dad's hospital room and then later on the same day saw The Weather Channel with a color negative picture (a crude scramble).

The transmit location for both services was The Terminal Tower. You needed line-of-sight to the TT in order to receive the signal, so reception possibilities were limited. Many "Showtime antennas" were on very tall masts to get over obstructions.

The Showtime signal OTOH, while also microwave, was a single channel designated for commercial use. It was not scrambled. BTW: Does anybody know when that service went off the air?

Yeah, I noticed that one just now too, after I went to scan and there was nothing yet........they must have added that caveat very recently - their website said nothing other than launching September 26 last week.

Years ago on occasion I used to get a snowy picture on Channel 70, this would just be a headshot of a person, did not seem to change, I was thinking this was Amateur TV, or a harmonic of it.

Which brings us back to the question if they are going to move Me or This.

Never noticed this before, but ....

When my DVD player is on, 19 seems to pixilate now, when DVD player turned off (or standby mode) pixilation reduces or stops altogether. The other night it seemed to totally wipe out 19. Does not affect any other channels.

Perhaps something going in the Player or the signal getting fickle recently. This is the system on my attic antenna & the setup I cannot receive 8 on for some reason.

I couldn't read that link because of my outdated flash player, however I was able to read the schedule link. (???)

I was thinking old reruns of Fat Albert would be a good fit here

Sorry, Bismark......looks like we have to wait until January to watch "Soul Train"!
That link says that Bounce TV will launch in January for Cleveland/Akron - that's NOT what it saying just last week.

Something reminded me of Bounce TV at the beginning of this month, so I checked their website and lo and behold, you could follow them on Facebook, so I "Liked" them in order to get news updates via FB. By looking at the comments, Cleveland isn't the only city that changed their launch until January; a few others chimed in to say that they were still waiting in their particular cities also. When Bounce came out with a news feed yesterday evening saying that October 3 - 7 would be showcasing Richard Pryor movies (including "Silver Streak" - love that one!) I got disgusted and "Unliked" them on FB; I don't need to see what we'll be missing, ya know?

Disappointing, as I was looking forward to some of those movies! And I agree with you about Sanford & Son and Fat Albert - they would make good additions!

I wasn't aware that either station was going to be moved - maybe I should be reading this website more often?

Initally I read that September was the launch date for Cleveland months back, (or we would get this as soon as launched).... sounds like they are paying by the quarter year for it & (WOIO & others) are decided to hold off to see how it rates?

Hmm they showing Bustin' Loose, Stir Crazy, & The Toy also?

the 'f' link seems to create a lot of issues with my PC, I'm wondering if there is spy bugs whenever these come up.

Back a page or 2 it was mentioned that an engineer @ WOIO said This! would move to 19-2, & Me would be moved to a Sub on 43.. But since Bounce is going to 43.3, I don't see the point of Flipping This with Me.

The "f" link is for Facebook, I think? I wonder why you're having problems; what virus protection do you use? We've used both Kaspersky and Norton and haven't had any problems with either.

Sadly, yes, the article mentions both Bustin' Loose and Stir Crazy; nothing about The Toy......all movies that we here in Cleveland won't get to watch! Well, maybe they'll re-show them again if and when they decide to launch in January......in the meantime, I'm pleading for "The Cool TV" on the various stations Facebook pages; you never know!

I think I did see you mention the Me/This switch, now that you mention it. That makes no sense at all - why would they bother?

I don't think it's virus related, but seems like on sites where the 'f' link appears I have stalling, freezing issues. As my PC is antiquated, perhaps a cookie from the 'f' is giving my PC fits. That's one site I never go to, as it will not work on this PC either.

Edit: & no I don't even have to click on these links, their presence gives my PC fits.

A few years back 43.2 was The Tube, which was like an MTV or VH1 (I think I'm not well versed in cable), that showed music videos of mixed genre, that soon went under.... I'm thinking that's what Cool TV is (??)

As you say, they may re-run those from time to time next year as This! does.

The Tube was just like the original MTV before the reality shows. I watched The Tube on my Dish Network DVR which had an ATSC OTA tuner integrated. Sadly The Tube went under a few years before the first CECB STB's came out. So the majority of TV viewers never got to see what The Tube was like

It was on The Tube where I first saw the "Buddy Holly" video by Weezer. The Tube had classic rock videos mixed with modern groups. They even had videos that predated MTV (The Beatles and The Doors). Bottom line it had wide appeal and would have done well if only people could have been able to watch it.

When The Tube went off the air it's "ghost" lived on on 43.2 for well over a year! WUAB continued to show an apology/don't call us slide on 43.2 that was also carried on the few cable systems that picked up 43.2 on their digital cable tier.

True, I never thought of that. I had replaced mom's set with a flat screen so I got to catch it. It went dark October 1, 2007 (wow, 4 years ago, how time flies), I think I picked up my first STB in May of '08.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tube_Music_Network

Wonder if it would have survived if it went into the era of STB's?

So The Tube did not go under "a few years" before CECB's came out. It was more like a few MONTHS! What a shame. They must have run out of money and could not get the financing to hold out just a few more months. I bet lots of people got to see the "don't call us" slide on 43.2.

There's a new African-American-themed subchannel announced that MGM is involved in.

http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/2...tv-a-new-rival

Quote:

TV industry sources say Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios has been shopping around KIN TV, a new multicast network targeting an African-American audience.

KIN TV will offer a ā€œwide range of programming designed to entertain, inform and inspire a broad audience of modern African-American viewers,ā€ according to a video presentation that TVNewsCheck found on the Internet.

Maybe Raycom is waiting this out and trying to bail on Bounce? MGM already runs This TV (43.2) and distributes Me-TV (19.2) for Weigel.

All these sub services popping up, & the FCC wants to further cut the band down?

Lotta dropouts tonight I'm imagining with the rain on all channels, anyone else having difficulties?

getting signals in the 70's & 80's & then momentarily dropping to 15%.

Yes, we were having difficulties also - WEWS (Jeopardy was ruined ), WUAB and WVIZ were barely watchable!

Ironically enough, WOIO was coming in perfectly. And so was that Spanish channel.......does anything ever cause disruption with that channel? I swear, folks as far away as Pittsburgh must be able to watch that channel!

Correct, all channels were giving me fits except 61... 61 is even better than 5 & 43 was a bit less troubleprone than the rest, with 55 being the worst.... basically unwatchable & forget ION.

No Northeastern Null on 61 either... wht else are they doing that the others aren't? other they are on the highest RF on the farm.

These were coming off of my attic antenna I did not have my other set on downstairs to compare.

I really think they should CC 61 in English, it would be a good teaching tool to actually pick up on the language since it's being forced upon us.

Everything was fine here in Salem at approximately 55 miles from the transmitters; however, signal quality levels were slightly lower than normal. For example, WEWS was in the 93 to 95% range instead of its regular 96 to 98% range on my DTVPal DVR. Please note that these are signal quality levels, not signal strength levels.

Hey Bismark -

Batman will be starting at 7pm (in about 10 minutes) - MeTv!

And any Star Trek fans will be happy to know that the episode "To go where no man has gone before" will be airing at 9pm!

Good stuff on both Antenna TV and Me Tv this evening - their new fall lineup!

It's amazing how well done those shows were even though some of the critics will pan them for being juvenile. I find them very entertaining even if some of the themes are absurd.

I've seen no OTA problems the past couple of days, even on WOIO's low-power Akron repeater on 24 (both CBS and Me-TV).

However, in the rain, I noticed that the signal of the new Cleveland sports radio station on 92.3 was suffering more interference down here.
