That stuff adds up quick. And then you have to consider that your original base is aging and losing interest.

PD also said they spent $80 million on the game and that was like a year ago. Welcome to modern videogame development.

And considering Forza 2 sold tons of units, and sims still generate lots of interest, including Prologue selling a few million, I don't see the base losing interest anytime soon.

Not aging but losing interest

The "deluxe" one would include a "subscription in perpetuity" to all for-pay DLC (new cars and tracks)

Not happening..

Has anyone considered that maybe the 2 packages are full, disc-based and an update download (or disc, I suppose) to GT5:P?

I don't see free DLC blowing in any winds....

It might sound far-fetched (as much of the other stuff also does), but that's the rumor.

Fifth wind says that reunion will happen in two forms, one greater than other and birdtamers will have freedom to decide which reunion they will attend. Greater reunion will ask for great sacrifice to be made in order to get all present and future treasures without new sacrifices needed, while smaller reunion will come in form already known, asking for more sacrifices if future treasures catches the eyes of the birdtamers.

the few additional cars from burnout paradise are costing a pretty penny. after all the DLC cars and Party packs you are looking at a game that will be well into $100+ for those who bought the game new at $60. Why could they have the multiplayer offline mode built-in in the first place.

so yeah, PD may just milk us on GT5 just like Criterion is doing for Burnout Paradise.

GT5 has the Tesla? Sold.

Custom soundtrack

This game can't come out soon enough. At least it gives me time to gather more money for my fanatec wheel stand

ladies and gentleman. take notice on this video. and see car damage with your very eyes

pay close attention to the far left screen. not the main screen. the small left screen.

around 53-54 seconds. somebody is walking by. after that you can see the door is opened because of a small crash

Very cool technology if pulled off correctly.

I can't seem to find what courses will be included. Is there an official list or is it still super secret? Anyways I am crossing my fingers for Watkins Glen.

A better video of damage.

Tracks: I don't think there has been an official list from PD but that Tokyo track shown (was also in GT3 & GT4) is my favorite.

Porsche isn't making the cut
Damage for only some cars

IGN hands-on

"Lastly, it sounds like Porsche will not make it into Gran Turismo 5. As disappointing as this was for Kazunori, Porsche signed an exclusive arrangement elsewhere and will probably not be included. It looks like Porsche fans will have to wait. "

damage is limited to only few cars. Not worth it.

I agree that they should have damage on all cars or none at all. I don't really see the benefit of having only a limited cars damaged. Maybe it's a licensing thing. If I remember correctly, in the previous version, it was the car's compagny that were against damage. They didn't want to see their cars damaged.

But for me, I couldn't care less about damage so no big deals.
So you are going to have races in games with cars that have no damage vs cars with damage? How does that work? Is the damage just going to be cosmectic and not actually affect your driving?
Didn't GT2 have damage that affected the driving model for all cars? It's been so long but I think it did.

Like Gran Turismos of yore, I'm sure RUF Tuning will be included so you still get your suped-up 911's and Boxters....probably the Cayman as well; though I doubt we'll see the Carrera GT

they can't use that excuse. Forza has been doing it for years with all the manf.

It affected the cars physically, but not visually; which was weird.

Yes, with the same cheesy, unrealistic damage model. PD works with these companies to digitally reproduce their cars interiors. Some manufacturers don't want to see these interiors ripped to shreds in a virtual accident; as they believe it's bad PR.

its a video game, damage model looks pretty good to me. definitely better than no damage in a "real driving simulator".

just more excuses to me. Other games have been doing full damage for years now.

More like they realized that everyone else is doing it, but they didn't think they would need it until they released gt5p when everyone started laughing at the joke that was bumper cars with no damage at all. By that point they had not enough time left to do all the cars over again with real damage or they would have to face even more bad press of never coming out on time or waiting for the ps5 etc.

So this is a compromise. Instead of taking another three years to put damage on all cars, they only have a few cars capable of damage and they release it in 09, albeit the last day of 2009, and I'll believe that when I see it

What other console games have full damage models from cockpit perspective?

Maybe Dirt? The damage is very good in the first one. But if you mean the dashboard getting ripped and broken, it wasn't done. Can't wait to play the second. Damn I REALLY need to buy the fanatec wheel stand for my G25 now
