Uhhh... so just some of those "delays" were for your health... ?

This game will come out after Thanksgiving with full 3d and motion sensor support...

Likely.

The only natural thing I can guess that motion control would do for the series is head tracking to look to the sides on a single display. That would only need the PS-Eye though, because I can't guess how the Move would be useful in anyway.
joeblow, thanks for giving us these updates. I do go over to GTP but I can't take the bitching and moaning done there. It's nice to get the concise updates here on AVS.
I'm picturing having two of those Move controllers rubber banded to my head for some reason....

It would be nice for those people who don't really want to throw down $300 on a wheel & pedals and want slightly more (slow movement) accuracy than the analog stick provides (kinda mario kart style perhaps)

The Official GT Wheel, is available at amazon for $124. Earlier, it was available for under $100.
The price fluctuates often on the DFGT at Amazon, just wait a week or so and it will be back to $99.

oh super cool! They seem to be of decent quality, not too cheaply made are they?

They're alright. Not as well made as the G25/G27 though. The G25/27 setup also works with PC if you're into that at all.

It's a slippery slope once you add a steering wheel. Next thing you know you'll end up with this in your media room.

lol that's pretty ghetto with the LeBaron car seat welded to a frame with those computer speakers. My car seat would have rich corinthian leather , chrome and some much higher quality speakers

Oh but i'd also be dead in a ditch when my wife saw it!

Hey now. Give me a little credit. It's a 3rd gen RX7 seat.

And my wife wasn't terribly thrilled about the Corbeau racing seat that replaced it in the car OR the monstrosity sitting next to my desk. But she'll live.

hehe I know I was just kidding, i'm actually quite jealous (well that and I wanted to use a Ricardo Montleban reference)! That would be amazing to have, assuming this friggin game ever comes out. I refuse to buy a Prologue!

is the 3rd gen RX7 the 1994? Love that car, classic ride!

Drew91: My wife would have me commited (I am not joking). She tolerates the obsession with HD and Surround Speakers, but that is about it. She loves playing Rock Band at other peoples houses, but refuses to get it. She thinks gaming is childish and having the drums and guitar in the house would torture her.

Great job with the racing setup. Must be a blast!
Drew, do you have a buttshaker installed in that seat?
In my man-cave I could possibly get away with something like that. It would be tight though and just too much in the way but wife has no say there. But if I put that in the middle of the living room even with my "he-man" ways I know I'd be crossing the line. And the bad thing is I'd know it and wouldn't have a leg to stand on in the fierce argument that I know would ensue. That being said, MAN I WISH I HAD THAT SETUP!

Sadly, I buy almost everything if it's a race sim. GT5 prologue included.

Yup. It is. I've desecrated it by replacing the drivetrain though. No more rotary for me.

Thanks man. It is a blast. Fortunately my wife says very little about my gaming and AV addictions. It helps that both of my kids love sitting on my lap and steering while I work the pedals. And if she ever did say anything we'd just make the short walk to her walk-in closet and she wouldn't like the direction the conversation took.

Not yet. But thanks for the idea!

You can see that it's a pretty tight fit between the computer desk and the last of my Berklines, but it's totally worth it. There are times when it gets in the way, but most of the time I'm propping my feet up on the back of the car seat when I'm watching TV or gaming. There's definitely more positive than negative to it.
I think a dedicated seat like that would be perfect for the buttshaker and would probably add a lot to the driving sim experience! I'd put one in my couch if it wasn't so damn nice
post #860 of 3784
I love the upside down mounting of the G25 pedals. Have you guys ever seen the sim cockpit section on the race sim forums? I can't access it from work anymore but it was rscnet.com or something like that.

Drew's got one heckova nice setup there. Mine is much more ghetto. I made it out of pieces of old pressboard shelving and schooch it up to the couch. My wife doesn't seem to mind much. She DID buy me my G25

6. Mong: One criticism of the franchise is the AI feeling robotic. Will you give GT5 a more human feel?

Kaz: Up until GT4 it was about getting the laptimes correct. Now that that has been somewhat successful, an attempt to make the AI more human in GT5 has been made.

Somewhat successful? An attempt... has been made?

Translation: the AI in GT5 will still be HORRIBLE.

That isn't necessarily a direct quote from him... for one the director speaks Japanese, and secondly the forum poster who put it up said he summarized to save himself from typing to much. To somehow read that as confirmation that the A.I. is terrible would be idiotic.

Nice, but couldn't you do one of these instead:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqZsW...eature=related

Watch from about 1:00 to 4:00. Cracks me up every time I think about someone doing this in their theater.

For me, I've got a DFGT mounted on a Wheel Stand Pro. Nice and portable, really stable and doesn't take up any space. I use it with either my leather couch or my Ikea Poang chair when I want to get closer to the display.

That is slick! I think that would finally cross the line with the wife. I'm not sure she could handle that level of geekdom.

I know my wife couldn't. It's cool but waaay over the top.
Actually I could get away with that one. As long as it's out of sight when I'm done racing she'd go for that.
