european d-vhs

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
just wanted to let you all know (in case you didn't know), that the european jvc (I've owned one since april 01)has no component outputs, cannot record higher than 14bits, has no digital audio-outputs and no rgb-inputs. so no hdtv movies here then. I hope you know how lucky you are to live where most manufacturers put there top-models - in europe we get second grade. and that is true with televisions, dvd-players and dvd-recorders. only my panny plasma is universal - I think... I am soo jealous!
kind regards

Hi Thomas;
As an expat from your neck of the woods, I sympathise. I am still amazed that europe didn't decide to embrace HDTV.

Another forum member in England went to the trouble of buying in an HD RPTV and also a HD capable projector. With D-VHS pre-recorded tapes coming soon, if you invested in a HM30000u you could be one of the few folks in the UK to experience true HD, but it wouldn't be cheap. I'm not sure I would have been so happy jumping on the HD bandwaggon if there was such a plentyful supply of OTA and sat HD available to me here.
