AKG or Ultimate Ears like signature?

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the ignorance of this question but I am new to speakers and a longtime headphone user. I can certainly use some help.

The crux of it is that I'm looking for speakers with a sound signature similar to either of my favorite headphones: the AKG K701 or the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 10 Pro.

I would describe the K701 as polite, precise, detailed, neutral, and accurate. The K701 take me extremely close to the stage. Non musical elements fade into the dark background.

The SuperFi 10 Pro is also precise and neutral, with excellent details in the lows and mids, and outstandingly rich and detailed highs with absolutely no ear fatigue. Heard through an SR-71, the music seems to emanate from a perfectly black background. The C4 to C8 rarely sounds this wonderful.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Sorry about not specifying a budget, I am currently testing the waters to see what price range my audio tastes fit in.

Let me be more specific about what I want in a speaker: I like to keep the volume low and still retain accuracy when the music is pianissimo. Neutrality and clarity are move valuable than punch. I do love, though, to hear the bow scrape across a cellos strings.

I am beginning to think my standards are too high and the listening experience I want from speakers is unobtainable. Maybe I should get a speaker system and limit its use to movies and video games and forgo listening to music on it.
