I don't understand the purpose of this image.

on LCDs the pixel structure differs on each set, S-IPS has pixels that look like arrows pointing west, e-ips verticals and some VA panels circles with horizontal lines

some of the patterns look quite nice like art lol

there wasn't really a point other than to show a macro shot closeup of a plasma, maybe learn more about how it displays images

borders of text, grass outlines, 3D objects like the outlines of the zebras,

i think it is the lower resolution and the scaling causing this as its not as defined/detailed looking vs a screen that supports the real resolution

but true 1080p plasmas are much more expensive

otherwise the screen looks amazing

i dont know if its just me but i think the sammy pics look better and "more detailed" definitely more sharper

Jangaboo..i asked before but you probably missed it, what setting are you using? just the presets or?

damn has anyone seen the c450? very nice looking....i mean the tv itself...they really improved the styling.

yup i saw it...i was wondering what the difference was between the d450 and the new C(other than the obvious new design) I think it has less connections but it has gained a ethernet port?(i doubt its for internet content..)

btw it is definitely an improvement on style..i think the "ToC" is more prevalent.

i've tried a bit of everything, turning dynamic contrast off to setting it to medium

right now for PS3 its on Standard, 10 cell, 80 contrast, 50 brightness, 13 sharpness, 67 color

O M G ........colour is at 67 hahaha

could be part of your problem lol...when colour is set to high it can really wash out detail as well...much like contrast and other setting can affect detail...with a setting that high...and i'm assuming you have dynamic contrast on as well you wont see a single detail in colours..for instance i just tryed that setting and a guy wearing a football jersey made of mesh turned into one solid red jersey...uncharted at the title page lost all detail

and i have energy saver on low

I have pretty much taken a mixture from everyone on here

ALSO for gaming...you do know this tv has a Game mode right? I dont game so i havent had a chance to test it...

its not the color i have problems with, i like jacking up saturation on sets i use

i understand raising it too high will destroy some detail

the problem i have is the resolution scaling causing a blotchy look of objects on the screen, the outlines of objects like i mentioned have a blocky look to them instead of being defined

the pics i posted don't do justice if you were to see it in person the zebras outlines because of the scaling look blocky instead of having a smoothness to them

Jangaboo i would not recommend shibez's settings for gaming...you dont want reference settings for gaming it just doesnt work...ive found the best thing to do for games...is to switch to game mode...then adjust cell to 10 contrast to 80-85 ....brightness to 50 and just leave the rest alone....this works the best for games

just incase you havent found the game mode yet you hit menu..scroll down to plug and play and you find it in that menu

While on the setting topic here are my updated settings as i to started to find movie had too much of a weird tinge to it..the white balance change corrects it..i use these settings strictly for blu-ray/dvd on my ps3, looks excellent with the lights down. i find them too dim for hd cable..mostly due to varying quality on different channels..i finally settled on setting for my hd cable viewing that look good on all channels/sources after about a month of adjusting all the time..if you guys want those settings let me know and i can post them

I'm sure you could calibrate game mode for it to display properly, but I don't see the point. I've never noticed any issues with running my games in standard. Everything looks sharp, clear, and fantastic.

Ya, when i put the same setting on game mode and standard i ohnestly cant tell a difference..i mean game mode uses the standard setting...just thought maybe it might be cutting down on input lag even if its so slight i cant tell..need every advantage i can get for shooters online haha...but its really not n issue since this tv has no perceivable input lag like lcd's due..purely a mental thing

and i just thought i'd mention....jangaboo...it totally slipped my mind while we were talking about it..you do know most all ps3 games are only 720p?

It's the full game. Great so far, very different from normal games.

nice..ive been waiting for someone i know to buy it..is it a a buy or a rent?

I bought it. I don't like to rent. Not sure why. If you have a problem with Quicktime Events I might avoid it. Or rent/borrow it to try it out.

I'm find the gameplay and story to be pretty good though. Some of the stuff is intense.

beat the game.... only game ive played that had me questioning which decision i was going to make....4 different endings, and their are trophies, that you cannot get depending on which decision you make, so definitely buy it. it has replay value. Downloadable content also coming, its a prequel

i also have this tv. a 50inch purchased in feb of 09
out the box looked great on ps3 and 360. changed to cinema movde, and turned down sharpness, and energy saver off. nothing else to tweak.

some burn ins in the lower right part of the screen, bery subtle. if i leave the tv offf while i sleep, i dont see them the next morning

was questioning if this tv was worth the 850 i spent for it, was going to take it back. after playing heavy rain, its worth keeping.

cool..i'll buy it this week then...soo many good games are coming out...im going to be broke after buying this tv then heavy rain,gow3,bioshock2,ff13 lol

Shibez i changed the cell light to 10 and brightness to 55 and i must say...amazing find...with the changes these are bar far the best settings in this thread...im watching lost in hd right now and its the first time ive been able to sit through the show without playing with the settings....colours are extremely accurate..just amazing...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

you're very welcome i changed the cell to 10 just now too and i think its even better..I didnt think i could actually like the movie mode/warm 2 but i definitely do now. looks amazing
