LN40B750 vs KDL-40XBR9 or ?

So I'm going to take the plunge and upgrade from my 27" CRT (don't laugh). Unfortunately, I only have room for a 40-42" screen, so I've been looking around for the best screen in this size. I'd really like LED backlighting, but I don't see any screens in my size with LED. So it basically boils down to the Samsung LN40B750 or the Sony KDL-40XBR9. I can't tell much difference between the two screens, but the sony is $1000 more and I have to wait a month. I'm leaning towards the Samsung..

Any opinions or other screens I should look at? Maybe I should just wait another year.

The Samsung UN40B6000 is LED edge-lit (different backlight method), which includes the extremely deep blacks typically found on LED backlit TVs plus a 1.2" thick design. I'd recommend it because the picture is incredible and it's priced right. Check out the owner's thread for more details.

I would highly recommend the Samsung B750. The 750 is a proven design that has been out since last year and all of the "bugs" have been worked out of it. The picture quality on the 750 is fantastic.

I do agree that the B6000 has a fantastic picture as well, but if you can't justify the cost of an XBR9, then I think you would have a hard time doing the same with the cost of the B6000 which is unproven and has just been out over a month.

I have a Samsung 46A650 that I bought almost exactly one year ago and love it. I'm sure you would feel the same about the 40B750. Good luck in your decision.

Maybe you should scrap both ideas and get the Toshiba 42ZV650u? Seriously amazing TV for the price...

I just recently got to see this TV on Blu-Ray and just fresh in my mind. I was blown away...

Worth looking into if you want to save some cash and still get an awesome PQ...

Edge-lit means there's no selective lighting, which is how LEDs have increased contrast over CCFL. I also don't really care about the thickness.. other than that, I'm not sure why I would pay the extra $$ for the UN40B6000.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the LN40B750.. does anyone know why it doesn't appear at all on Samsung's website?

there you go, now here's someone making sense. I was just at bb again tonight looking for any new sets and saw the 40B750 right next to 40XBR9. I had to keep looking at the tag from sony to make sure that it was an XBR9 because quite frankly it looked like arse. What are those sony engineers doing these days? all of their lcds look like average crap nowadays with exhorbant prices.

For those interested in Samsung TVs, a fellow AVS forum member just PM'd me about a sale on Samsung LCDs at Amazon... You can get the LN40B750 on sale for $200 off list, with free S&H:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...kco-20&ie=UTF8

Coupon code: SAMTV200

Other Samsung TVs are also on sale, try SAMTV100 ($100 off) and SAMTV300 ($300 off), depending on the model.

Samsung LN40B750 LCD HDTV is one of the best televisions in Samsung LCD product line, I have searched the internet and several major online merchants and I found that this HDTV is their bestselling item, so I wonder why people like to buy this item. One of the reasons is this LCD HDTV is cheaper than other brands with the same size but it has many great features that cannot be found in others
