but regardless, how do i change the reference frames?
Change the Skip mode!!!

When i press skip, it needs to skip 10 min. Perfect!

But now i first need to fastfoward/rewined!??!?!? (Why!?)
Oh and another thing is other files from that same season that have 9 reference frames play fine with the newer firmware. its only certain files in it and im not sure why.

I see no problem with it staying the way it is. if you want everything to play in a folder, hilight the first file and press play. if you only want to play one file, press enter.

I would hate it if the enter button worked the same as the play button.

I have upgraded to this firmware and now none of my 1080p files are working, they start playing but then the sound goes and the pictures stutters a lot and these files played fine on the other firmware release

Any ideas?
Just to confirm I have checked this with all my 1080p files and none are working now, regardless if they have the subtitles on or off and to confirm these files all used to play fine before the upgrade, and most of my files are 1080p all the others and 720p files play fine. Any one else having this problem?

Any ideas?

Guys at WD please can you look into this major bug as this wasnt happening before!

Thanks

Recode the whole thing again. Since the quality will inevitably drop if you recode the already encoded file, it makes more sense to rip the disc again, provided you own it.

The number of reference frames the WD TV-HD can handle depends on the resolution of the file.

It isnt something Wd has to look into as it isnt happening to everyone.......We do need more information from you...

Are you getting any specific error message?
Have you tried hard resetting you WD?

You should also post the mediainfo txt file so that people can analyze the ines that will not play.....

Maybe you could try rolling back to a previous firmware to confirm that the issue goes away?

they are all the same resolution though. and some play fine within the same files and some dont.

Ok another question. i have since then downgraded to 1.02.00 and the files play alright, but ive noticed that certain files have minor lip synch files. like the sound is of by maybe 1/5th a second. would upgrading to the newest firmware fix this? have they improved .mkv playback in things like this?.. or would it make no difference? it still doesnt make sense to me that the older firmware plays those previously mentioned .mkv files fine while the new firmware doesnt...
also according to that list it should handle the reference frames,

"x-1280 : all 720p labeled videos are fully compatible"

which would explain why they work fine.. but not why they dont work with the newer firmware. so perhaps its something else?
oh another question.. im reading and i see some mentions about the sync issues coming from hdmi for sound + video... what if i used the av chords for sound and hdmi for video? would that fix anything? or would that make it worse? what should my audio settings on the wd tv and my tv be set for both of those situations?

Are you talking about SD or HD content?
Cause everyone semms to have one issue or another regarding subtitles, thus you state that everything is perfect.
Can you please be a bit more specific?
Cheers

Of course they would cause there's no reason whatsoever not to have this feature from the beginning! I also don't see any reason why a "switched off" WD TV should continue sending signals over HDMI confusing some TVs handshake when switched on again. Of course I might not be tech savvy enough.

It's a shame people feel this way cause that should go without saying. After all WD wants to sell their stuff. Of course they could ignore this and do it like Iomega and be stuck with their crappy devices.

Not everyone has the same requirements. What is perfect for 1 person may not be for another. There is nothing wrong with poeple saying Subs are perfect, becasue for some people they are...

THe majority of Sub issues I see now are cosmetic in nature. There are those that are requesting further support Arabic, Greek, and Hebrew that I can remember off the top of my head. There may be some other issues I am forgetting as well.

I have also seen reported and experienced the "flashing" subs (subs only flash on screen), on a few different movies, but others are just fine. For me this is minor, and can most likely wait, but for some this issue could be a deal breaker.

Hi! I have the same problem, I posted here a few pages back. All 1080p files are stuttering and no sound. I did some tests, and I think is a subtitle application problem, because when I turn subtitles off, the problem doesn't happen.

I downgraded to firmware 1.01.02 and all files played fine. In 1.02.06 and 1.02.07, the problem happens.

I hope WD is checking this, for fix in the next firmware release.

Correction! The problem with the Greek "flashing" subs appears on all movies and not on some movies.

Yes, of course, I'll be much more specific now!

First of all, I'm talking about HD content (but always 720p). I haven't tryed 1080p material with this new firmware because my TV isn't Full HD, so with 720p is quite enough for my display (LCD Samsung 32'' at 1366x768).

Thank you
Do you have the same results with external subtitles? (eg. srt)

Cheers

This is a misleading conclusion...I have an mkv with 15 embedded subtitle streams, one of which is greek and IT DOESN'T flash...the only flashing subtitles for me are idx/sub...
everyone that uses subs a lot will realise that subs on the wdtv is nowhere near perfect. most of the flashing subs problems come from overlapping subs and having 2 sets of subs on screen at the same time where on the wdtv these features are not included in the wdtv subs app. these features really should be easy to fix as there is lots documentation on the net on subs(ass, srt etc) they can even check open source players like vlc if they like.

Repeat BUG

Repeat function in the main menu doesn't work.

When you select repeat when movie is playing it works perfect.

Have you tried to see the film with those greek subs, having previously selected greek (iso) as the additional encoding support in options?

*Sigh*
Have you tried to play the film(s) by pressing "play" instead of "enter"?
there seems to be more noticeable judder in 24p playback in .07, as compared to the previous prerelease.

perhaps its due to higher quality subtitle rendering in the .07 firmware
post #507 of 569
so i changed it to use the red and white cables for audio instead of the hdmi cable and it made the voice sync better. anyone know why this is? prettty weird.
hello, can someone confirm whether WD has implemented tag support for the subtitle files in this new firmware, like italics and such?
I have these issues after upgraded to FW 1.02.07:
- TS videos played but NO SOUNDS!
- TS videos in 16:9 won't display right
Those videos worked fine with FW 1.02.06

I will downgrade mine to FW 1.02.06
