Hello, I am not new here but haven't been active for awhile and forgot my log on.

Over 2 years ago I purchased the Sony Bravia KDL40-V2500, you know the one with the clouding issues. Mine wasn't too bad, and while the picture is good I do notice the lack of deep blacks, poor off axis viewing, and 'running" pixels on fast motion and sports.

I am recently divorced and the bitch, er I mean the ex-wife is getting the TV.

So I now have a chance to do it all over. The Pioneer Kuro PDP-5020FD looks like a steal from BB @ $2,000, but I would have to purchase it site unseen. I am a bit worried I might think the pic is too dim, although I have the Sony set at moderate brightness. My new room will not be brightly lit.

Any advice on what to look at to compare, or should I only consider something I can see myself? If so, what are some choices to put on my short list. Panny's?

Also, BB's 3 year extended warranty is pricey at $330. Are there 3rd parties where I can purchase an extended warranty or does Pioneer offer one? I do realize Pioneer is getting out of the TV biz.

should be a great upgrade. it would have deeper blacks, higher contrast and 56% larger screen then that old 40" the bitch it getting.......~

yes, you can get a Mack 3 year add on warranty for $161-200, that would start when the 1 year pioneer warranty ended and give you a total of 4 years coverage.

Hmmm, I may pull the trigger on this, and thanks for the EW info.

I am also interested in the Panny TC-P50G10. Thoughts anyone?
