Hello I have a 500g external hd that I pluged into my 23fd via usb thinking I would see it in my hmg like I do on my sc07 but it did not work.Has anyone else tried this. And if u did were u able to seemovies as well as hear music.
I don't think it's designed for that. AFAIK it's only for BD live content.

While it was certainly a time consuming labor of love reading the various threads as to the various SAPs but thanks to AVS and all the contributors, I made an informed decision that suits my needs.

With out a doubt one of best forums covering all things HD!

I'm considering the 320 or the previous 51FD, but am wondering about CD quality using multi analog outs.

Any owners here use your 320 as CD player also?

Yes, and though I am far from an audiophile, I definitely notice an improvement in sound quality compared to previous CD players I have used. Fully, better delineated sound. I am very happy.

If using the 320's multi analog outs to AVR for movies as well as CD, how does it then just play sound in 2 channel stereo only rather than something like 5 channel? Is this something the 320 determines or would my AVR's multi input determine that?

I'm assuming you could get pure CD audio sound this way?

If the disc only has two channels (a CD) and you are using the multichannel outputs, then it is going to output on the two channels only (front right and left). Those are the only channels being output by CD's. Nothing has to be 'determined', CD's are two channel, that is just how it is. Same is true for some DVD's and even Blu-ray's. Not all use surround sound, some have stereo tracks that would play in only the front right and left speakers.

Hi
What kind of setting should I choose in Audio menu to be sure that my amp's decoding HD formats instead of 320? I've got Yamaha 663 which is only able to decode hd formats via HDMI as a bitstream. I do not fully understand Audio menu of 320 as there is nothing like bitstream out. I chose HDMI but still not sure if 320 or Y663 does the job.
Regards,
P.S Also, I cannot connect to the network, "could not find a gateway"-that's what I see.

I received my Pioneer 320 yesterday, and set it up last night. Coming from a PS3, Im very impressed by this player. Load times were not as bad as ive heard, the tray pops out almost immediately. Picture quality seems to be more detailed than my PS3, though i have not been able to do a "A/B" comparison, as ive already sold the ps3. Audio quality is by far the biggest leap for me as now im able to enjoy the HD formats via analog out (my HK avr wont do audio over HDMI).

I have just a couple questions, when u hit the audio button on the remote and the OSD says dolby true hd, that means that is what is being output to the receiver, and i have everything set properly, right? The bitrate for the audio for ironman was diplayed as ~5/30 is that what its supposed to be. Should i set video res at 1080/24 or leave it at 1080/60 for a panasonic 50px75U, not sure if it can handle 1080p/60.

Thanks again for all the great info on this tread, you guys saved me from buying ps3 slim.

Looks like 3.34a is available from Pioneer Europe for the LX-52(23FD) and 320. Let me know if this improves load times and menu navigation.

burned the 3.34 from the eu site...north american 320 just recognizes it as a data disc and does not begin downloading it. can any one else confirm this?

so when i extract the 3.34 fw update, it does not come up as an .iso file

anyone else?
They should be isofiles. I burned 1.08 from Europe for my 05 back when it had all the playback problems and the 3 day wait for firmware took 3 months.

definitely recommend you all download and install this via cd. if you have trouble, make sure you MANUALLY label the file as a .iso extension.

first page updated for new firmware.
I have downloaded it but have only had time to watch one movie since then. Is the DTS HD-MA 7.1 bug still there?

(I know that Master & Commander is a good test disc but what timecode has a good sample?)
Winston, have you checked DVD layer change with the new firmware?
Hi guys..haven't been on for a while so just wanted some opinions. I just bought the PS3 slim, but was thinking of buying the Pioneer BDP-320 instead. I just had a few questions first. Do they update often and will they continue to update? Will the player play all the new movies that come out? Can you update via internet connection, or do you have to make a disc?
