I still only see 3.71 on Pioneer's US website. Can you provide a link? Or did you mean that 3.72 is available for download when updating straight from the player?

Dan.

I downloaded 3.72 straight to the player yesterday. I can confirm that Source Code played flawlessly on my 23FD.

It is not on the US, or Canadian, website. You can either download it via the player's network connection or grab it from the EU website. Either way is fine as the files are identical.

As per note on page 47 of 23FD manual:
Quote:

When ANALOG AUDIO is selected at Output Terminal, no audio signals are output from the HDMI OUT terminal or DIGITAL OUT terminal (pages 19 and 46).

You could always send the 2-channel analog audio to the TV, but I expect it would be a copy of the L/R channels, so missing the center channel dialog unless you switch the "Audio output mode" setting from "Multi-Channel" to "2ch" every time you switch between the two. Also, your TV needs to be able to play audio from analogue input while showing HDMI video.

The other option would be to send "digital out" to AVR and 2 channel analogue to TV. You would not need to change the multi-channel setting, but you would loose the lossless audio. Your TV would still need to be able to play analogue audio and HDMI video.

Is it worth it to consider upgrading AVR to one that has HDMI inputs?

Dan.

I requested the latest firmware disc on the US Pioneer site and it read 3.72.

Resubmitted, hope this helps.

My avr has HDMI but my goal is to make it easy to switch between tv speakers and my 5.1 speakers. I have my remote set up so that there are two options for each activity,ex "watch TV" or "watch tv 5.1." To do this with the blu ray player my plan was to output video and audio to the tv via hdmi and then send audio to the receiver via multi ch analouge.

The discussion was about downloading not ordering a disc

Good to see you here, D-Nice. Hope all is well.

I'll probably just end up waiting until it's available on the US site like I usually do. I've got other life issues going on right now, so I'm in no hurry.

Thanks for the link.

I was under the impression the discussion was on how one was to obtain firmware update 3.72.

After downloading 3.72 to my 320. The loading problems with Spartacus Blood and Sand were eliminated.

Glad to hear all the positive reports so far about v3.72.

For what its worth, I installed the 3.72 firmware using the network connection this morning. I tried to access the Live Features on the movie Predators and I still get "a network connection is detected". This is something that they were suppose to fix last November.

Thanks.

Edit 8-13-11: I was hoping to update last night before I left on a trip, but I didn't get to. When I get back I'll update and see if the Miramax Lionsgate issue I was having is resolved. Base on a couple of reports I've read, I expect v3.72 will resolve these issues (Yea!).

I compared the BDP30A_V372.zip firmware files from EU and US sites. Not only are their file names and file sizes the same, but the zip files are byte for byte identical. So, as previously, there is no difference between EU and US firmwares.

If you updated with the EU firmware, you do not need to re-update with the US firmware.

Of course, in the future, who knows, so those who will wait for it on US site every time a new firmware comes out are fully justified.

Dan.

I just updated my 23FD with the 3.72 firmware update disc with no problems. Seemed like it took less than 5 minutes.

I ordered the disc a few days ago from Pioneer and shipped right away and got the disc today (Saturday) in the mail so pretty good customer service delivery time.

Thanks for checking that out.

I would suggest the Oppo. It is great with frequent firmware updates and the best customer support.

I have two Pio 320, in addition to many other BD players including a PS3. My primary player since the beginning of the year has been the Sony S570. The rest are hardly getting any play time since then.

The Denon 1611 is an AVR, not a BD player, probably you have another model # in mind?

From the rest in your list I would suggest the Oppo.

From the list: Oppo; not on the list: the upcoming Elite BD player. It will utilize the same upscaler as the Oppo (Marvell Qdeo K2) but will use Pioneer's i/p conversion that is (if their receiver is of any indication) better than Marvell Qdeo K2.

Of course this is just conjencture until we see the actual retail product.

It's true there is a : AVR-1611, however there is a dbp-1611 "universal disk player"

Are the new Pioneer's going to be real true Pioneer's 100%?

It has been confirmed by Walkamo in the Pioneer SC-55/57 thread that they are going to be 100% Pioneer, no Sharp involvement.

I hope they have as many online streaming features with WiFi as the new LG's and Sony's do.

Maybe, maybe not on the apps. Not to start a flame, but does anyone else think the " app" thing is dumb? Buy a good player, buy a good disk...
