I don't have a blu-ray player. But I am wondering if I would see the same behavior with blu ray movies as I do cable. I've also seen the blurriness happen with Xbox Live HD Movies (Bedtime Stories).

Will I see better motion performance in a blu ray movie?

I had a 50" plasma before and didn't notice so much motion blur.

Thanks!

i was going to ask if this was only on SD sources, but you do mention it happens from 360 HD content... i feel like i get mushy face on SD content (from comcast cable) but since i don't watch that much i don't care.

even then, i find that the Clear AMP setting handles it the best.

how are all the sources you see this effect on hooked up? i have everything hooked up source -> onkyo tx-sr706 -> tv, all hdmi.

and now that i think about it, i haven't watched a movie from my xbox since i got the new tv. i use Connect360 from my imac to the 360, so you have xvid avi being transcoded on the fly over wireless. i'll have a watch tonight and report back. anyone else do something similar? i've been trying to keep up with the thread but i haven't noticed if anyone has done this.

If the blurriness is on static pictures too, and you're using component cables, make sure they're tight in back. In 2 different stores, I needed to press them in tighter (on A850s) to clear up a blurry picture (almost like a ghost picture).

SD on my A860/HDMI/Comcast initially had blurry, double images, so I set Black Adj, Dyn Contr, Edge enh, xvYcc, DNR, Dnie to OFF, and lowered Sharpness to 50/20/65 for STD/Movie/Dynamic. Basically, I shut off the extra picture processing. There was no degradation to the perfect HD picture, and SD significantly improved. I have AMP on low (A860 has only off/low/med/high) and don't see blur on moving faces. Good luck.

Are there any owners out there who have the 40'' B750 and can listen to the set in a quiet room for me? I almost got the 40'' A630, but I'm very sensitive to sounds in a quiet room, and the 630 has a small fan in it. Does the 40'' B750 have a fan in it? Also, do any of you B750 owners hear any panel buzz/electrical buzz?

Reflection issues
Samsung is offering to replace my lns4692 with the lnb46750 whihc I know is a good deal. They are charging a fee for the exchange. But I have the matte non refelctive screen on my current tv in my living room that has lots of natural light........sky lights. They cause lots of reflection issues during the daylight. We have loved the non reflective screen but the tv died on us. Will this be an issue with the new LNB46750? Or does Samsung have a better choice with the matte screen? How much of an issue is this and how glossy are the newer screens?

Can anybody else confirm this? This was a major problem with my 46B550. If it is present on the B750 as well...urgh...

The screen is quite reflective, however, I personally prefer this due to the richness in black and color it seems to provide. I have many windows in my living room and two that sit accross the room behind the viewing area. When the TV is off or when watching darker content on a sunny day you definately notice the relection (or when the lights are on behind the seating area). For me, closing the blinds and turning off the lights helps and I've gotten to the point that I usually don't even notice it. Personally, I choose the PQ of this unit over a comparable non-reflective model. However, for some this may be unbearable.

Personally, I've never noticed anything like this at all while watching SD content, HD content, BluRay, playing games. I have a DN VIP622 DVR and PS3 both connected directly to TV via HDMI. Also, I have my AMP set to "clear" and my viewing distance on my 52" is 10-15 feet.

Any flashlight or clouding issues with this set?

Light if any clouding reported by owners so far. This is the most uniform LCD I've seen in some time. The only time I really get a hint of clouding is if I have a blank input with the backlight jacked in a dark room. Who watches their TV like that though. In normal viewing conditions the screen is as close to perfect as a non local dimming LED set can come.

But we've seen sample photos that make the LN52B750 look too dark and the sample I saw yesterday at Best Buy is too dark.

Is this the way Samsung has avoided clouding and flashlighting? If so, it seems like a bad deal to me. But maybe adjustments can fix all of this. those of you who have one, please let us know!

Thanks for the suggestions. I've turned off Dynamic Contrast and turned down the sharpness to 50.

I'm connected via component to all of my devices.

My question is...Will I see better motion performance on a blu ray player than on my Comcast HD?

Thank you all for your responses.

Thanks for the quick reply. Does anyone else have issues with this reflectivity?

I notice you say when it's on it's not that noticeable, even in broad saylight?

Thanks for the input.

I really need to see one in person.

i have a similar setup, tv in a well lit room, directly across from a GIANT sliding glass door. if it's light at all outside i can see reflections depending on what i'm watching. if it's normal tv i don't notice a thing. normal being stuff like cartoons, news, the office, etc. on games or movies where things can and usually do get dark the reflections get distracting. not to the point where i can't see anything but enough to notice. close the blinds, done. though sometimes i can't do that because the gf yells at me for making the place a cave

I am now getting a little concerned about these posts regarding "too dark" and "blurry" PQ. I was going to order my 52b750 today but have held off but need to do so very quickly before Amazon changes their promo. Everything I had read up until the past several days was super but now these potential issues. Do I have anything to worry about this or are these concerns just first impressions that can be overcome with tweaking? If I am going to order I need to so no later than tomorrow. Thanks MUCH.
Ditto It would be great to have some pictures of non-dark scenes and comments by owners on how the tv performs on bright non dark scenes.

The only time I've seen blurry PQ is if the signal was overly compressed. This set is very sharp. As for being too dark it all depends on your settings. Adjusting the backlight can make it pretty bright if you need it to be. What is cool though is this screen is so uniform for an LCD that you can do that without flashlights or clouds being an issue.

Who is your cable provider again?

Your 8300HD is the Scientific Atalanta 8300 HD-DVR isn't it?

I wouldn't worry about the comments/pics about the picture being "too dark". All of the images/comments regarding picture quality being too dark result from "out of the box" settings. I feel as if the resounding comments about overall picture quality, black levels and uniformity are very positive, just pull the trigger and join us.

Additionally, to help you in this issue, I am getting a professional install and I will be posting my calibrations on the other forum. I hope others will do the same.

Thanks for the info! Would I be crazy to swap for the samsung LN46B630 instead of the 750? Glare is an issue for me. It was on our old crt and it's one reason we love the LCD. Looks like the 630 is the top LCD with the matte screen. I really don't like the looks of it physically as much from the photos. Also does anyone know if there will be any new 8 series LCDs for 2009?

Problem is once I swap I'm done there will be no way to exchange so I have to make the right decision up front.

Got my LN46B750 today!!!! I have to say that being primarily a plasma owner the past few years, I'd say that the picture on this set looks very natural looking and looks impressive. I'm still playing around with settings. I just tried bpmurr's setting and am now experimenting with Cnet's A750 settings from last year. Later tonight when it gets darker, I'll be checking for flashlighting, clouding, dead pixels. But so far so good!

calibrating vs customizing settings

Is there a difference?

Sorry for the newbie question, but it seems that some people interchange these 2 terms, and to me, they are quite different.

A little background, my old tv was a Sony KP-43HT20 (720p), and all I ever did with it was change the settings. It ran for 7 years before dying last week.

Yesterday, I ordered the ln46b750, and it should arrive Monday (from Amazon), and what I want to know, is there and actual "calibration" that needs to be done, or do I simply customize the settings to my personal preference?? I once heard of a calibration DVD, is that something I need to get??

TIA.

Does the remote light up when picked up?

Do the controls on the TV light up?

It has a button on the top right to backlight the remote.

The TV controls on the TV do not light up. In fact it's hard to see them with the TOC design at times.

+1, but if you press any of the buttons my remote lights up; maybe that's why there are non-functioning buttons.
