Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the xx71. I think Samsung should've offered you a free next model year upgrade considering all the part replacement and troubleshooting (for them) that you had to go through.

i used those same settings but had to switch back to labeling the input 'dvi pc' because the blurry text was giving me headaches and hurting my eyes.

Can anyone provide good settings for Game Mode ON when using a PS3 with the LN52B750?

I currently use the CNET settings in Move mode for blu-ray watching. I was using these for gaming as well but I'm starting to feel some lag when playing Red Dead Redemption. I've turned Game Mode ON (which switches it too Standard) and I like the responsiveness, but I just can't get the picture to look right.

Also, if you can provide the Video settings on your PS3 that would be nice.
But I'm more interested in the settings when the Game Mode is ON.

THANKS.

Just an update for the problem described below (in case anyone else comes across the same issue).

SOLUTION: The power supply board was replaced and the start-up noise is gone. One additional note: the single click noise just before the screen lights up is also gone, I guess that single click might be a sign of a power supply that is going bad...?

Is a rapid clicking sound at power up normal for the LN52B750?

It will do the sound for 1-3 seconds and then a single 'click' and the screen comes on.

Is this possibly related to the back-light setting?

It's less than a week old and I purchased a 3 year ext. warranty but wondering if I should just return it, is the noise a sign of something about to fail?

Thank You,
Jason

I bought my LN52B750 awhile back and hooked it up to my computer using a DVI->HDMI. The problem that I am having is that there is a one inch border of unused screen between my desktop and the physical border of the screen. When I attempt to rename my connection to PC or DVI PC the size of the border increases. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a fix? I am currently using Windows Vista with a Radeon 4870 video card running at 1920x1080. The TV is running version 1005 of the Samsung software. Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi,

I intend to calibrate my Samsung B750 with the eye-one LT and the calibration for dummies guide. It looks like the best source is the Digital Video Essentials: HD Basics BluRay. That will help me to calibrate my BR player, which is connected to the HDMI 3 input.

Now, what's the best way to calibrate my other devices?

1) Cable box: Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC, connected to HDMI 2.
2) XBox 360: Connected to HDMI 1, Game mode On.
3) Nintendo Wii: Connected to Component 2.
4) PC: Connected through HDMI 4.

Thanks in advance!

Color HCFR is a better choice than DVE HD, but it requires a bit more research. I have not found a way to get the color patterns on other devices, so just copy the settings over to the inputs.

You can find the information about Color HCFR in the Display Calibration forum with links to the AVS HD 709 color pattern downloads. Let me know if you need any help translating the generic terms in the Color HCFR to the specific Samsung controls.

Thanks for the answer. So for the BR player I have:
1) eye-one LT
2) Color HCFR
3) AVS HD 709

I found the link to the AVS HD 709 download. Is there a step by step guide on how to use it with Color HCFR?

Oh yes, there is an excellent guide. Here is the link:
http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10457

The first step should be to create a softcopy and substitute the name of the Samsung controls for the generic ones in the guide. Then identify the appropriate images from the AVD HD. You will then be ready to tackle the actual calibration.

You should be able to a reasonable calibration up to Part 7. Using the i1LT to do Part 8 (Advanced CMS) is somewhat subjective.

Hi All,

I am trying to change the setting of my Samsung B750 to get good picture. I have tried CNET and other members posted settings. Few days back I tried settings from lcdtvbuyingguide.com . Below is the link for calibration settings.
http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/...libration.html

It looks like I am getting good backs and shadows.
My questions is regarding Gamma as it -1 in the settings . I didn't see any body posted their settings to use Gamma as -1 .

Does any body tried lcdtvbuyingguide.com settings before ?. How do they look ?
is Gamma at -1 is correct for B750 ??

Thanks in advance.

Can't seem to connect for firmware updates any more. All I get is a 'Connection Failed (800) message. The internet connection is fine and never had problems in the past...any thoughts??

Ok so I have used the original post settings as my BluRay watching settings. But what about football? I cant seem to narrow down settings dedicated to watching sports (football in particular) except people just using dynamic mode. Anyone have any particular settings they like?

After months (almost a year) of using Koui's settings, I've finally calibrated my LN40B750. I used X-Rite's Eye-One Display 2 Colorimeter and HCFR Software. I still don't have a blu-ray player because my DVD player will never die so this was calibrated using Curt Palme's calibration DVD.

If I have any questions, it's regarding the strange gamma dropoff in the highend. This happened with both the Avia DVD, my own homebrew disc, and Curt Palme's DVD. It doesn't seem to matter if I change my contrast and backlight. If anyone has thoughts, I'd be open to suggestions on fixing it.

CE Dimming has been disabled in the service menu.

Panasonic DVD-RP91
Denon AVR-2309CI

Curious, who in here likes the soap opera effect? I love it myself!
i can't stand it
Maybe I just don't watch enough soap operas to understand ☺, but what exactly is this effect that I constantly hear people talk about? What settings turn it on or off?

Look here:

Use the settings for 7500k, since Game Mode is locked to standard color temp.

Wow...really? That bad? Can you describe?

I still have the original firmware. I alwqays wondered if I was missing something but not upgrading. Guess I never can now.

The picture isn't horrid, but I lost the ability to get that life-like picture quality that I had out of the box. I guess it is called the soap opera effect. Pretty upset about it.

Through research, I found SamyGO. They have software that may allow me to downgrade my software.

Do you mean you liked the soap opera effect and lost it or vice versa? That's the last thing I would think an update would mess with. Do the anti blur and dejudder controlls just no longer have any effect on motion?
