Also, I noticed it read from the jump drive the first time, but no longer tries to read from the jump drive.

Are you sure you formatted it correctly? Also there may be issues with certain drives. Can't remember if it was 11.03 but I had an instance where there was still one file that wasn't uncompressed.

I tried two different kingston (4GB and 8GB) drives, formatted Fat32. I tried uncompressing the TVApps.tar file, but still no luck. But again it appears to not even try to read the drive after the first try (saw the drive light blink the first time).

If the TV is still working normally I would format the drive again making sure nothing is on it, make sure all files are uncompressed and not within separate folders. When you unplug the TV wait a minute or two.

The TV powers on but only ever goes to the welcome screen (does not respond to button presses or remote) and the status light blinks.

Was this an issue before you tried updating? What firmware number is on it now?11.03 is supposed to fix the stuck on welcome screen issue. Of course if the TV can't read the drive that doesn't help.

If your still not having any luck updating and it won't go past the welcome screen you need a new main board.
There was no problem before I tried updating. Right now I am waiting for Mitsubishi to send me their usb stick - but since it does not try reading from the stick, I have little faith that it will work. Is there any way to try and get it to update again (besides plugging in usb stick, plugging in tv and powering on)?

Re-read your other post, there's more than 7 files. Open TVApps.tar inside there is a folder called "MITS" all those files need to be opened without being in a folder and put on the drive.

If those files aren't opened the TV won't do anything with the drive.
Ok, I'll give that a try.
No luck, again I never see the light on the jump drive go on as if the tv never tries to read it...but it works in my computer just fine.
I had the same problem last month. I tried a BB drive (brand new) & it was stuck on the welcome screen. Then I tried a Toshiba & it worked fine- so I would try a different brand of jump drive.

Ya I already told him that, I think he's waiting for Mits to send one. He tried two but both are the same brand.
Yeah, I'll just wait for the Mits one for now, but the thing that worries me is that I saw it read from the kingston the first time (hence the partial update such that I can't get past welcome screen now) but no longer tries to read.
Got the usb stick from Mitz and no luck (funny that it is a kingston like the two I already tried)...TV does not even seem to read from stick. It just boots to the welcome screen while the green light on the front flashes.

Only thing I can say is.....it needs a new main board.

WD-73837. Error code 17......

TV will shut down after a few seconds and red light then blinks. Error code 17. From the service manual. Communication loss, TV Micro - Engine (3.3V-ENG-SDA & SCL) Most likely cause Loss of 12V from PWB-POWER to Engine (Loose PE or PE2 connector). Engine Failure....

Is this user fixable?? (edit) Or I should say how is it fixed???

Thanx Much

Did you just move the TV from one house to another, or change the light bulb or something? I can't imagine it really is a "loose connector" that'd happen spontaneously.

No I didn't.....

It started out that the TV would play for an hour or so and shut down. Then a day or two later it started staying on a few seconds to a minute. Keep getting error code 17. Scared its engine failure. Didn't think it was a loose connection but hoping it was....

If you want the big stuff, there is actually very few choices and the Mitsu 82" is the only game in town. I have a 73927 and ,IMO, bulb sucks. Many people here will tell you it doesn't dim and it lasts for more than 4000 hours. In my experience, first bulb died after only 900 hours and second one started to dim so badly that I had to replace it. That's not the worse, though : bulbs do get weaker after few hundred hours and you will need to recalibrate your set from time to time. Again, a lot of people will tell you the bulb remains as bright after 2000 hours as it was when brand new.

Having said that, there are strong reasons to consider the 82" Mitsubishi: It's realatively cheap, picture is good with HD movies, not the worst with SD , no burn in and a huge screen.

I am waiting for the Panasonic 65V10 and will replace my 73927 if I like it. I had problems with my Mitsu and my set had to be replaced twice because a bogus digital channel in my area was causing it to lock up. I know I will miss the size, though.

Do you still have your WD-73927? I can't find a color wheel. Can you help?

It probably is engine failure of some sort, possibly power supply or switching related, but I'd be surprised if its as simple as a loose connection if the TV hasn't been handled in some fashion lately.

Good luck. Still under warranty?

Thanx but no it's not. I didn't purchase an extended warranty. Lucky I am getting a XBR 55HX929 at a big discount from Sony as a replacement for a green glob 60XBR1. So at least I will have something to watch....

I 've had a WD 65737 for a couple of years and the main board went bad.It has been replaced a couple of times and everything works except the hdmi ports.None of the three will work.Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Did you try a full reset? I am assuming you tried plugging in a known working hdmi source and good cable?
Yes I did several resets and all of my hdmi devices and cables are in good working condition.
Did you do the firmware update?

That seems awful odd to me, what are you connecting the HDMI's to? Have they never worked with any of the boards? As someone else posted, have you done a firmware update?
I got my TV fixed my replacing the light engine, and after having it not work for so long it's like having a brand new television.

I want to treat my baby to 3d, but I'm not sure what to do. It's a 65737.

Do I go with this : http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-3DC.../ref=de_a_smtd

(3d kit for $270)

or just buy the

http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-3DA...4641953&sr=8-2

3d Adapter pack for $90 and any 2 pair of active 3d glasses? I mainly want it for 3d games.
I'd go with the cheaper option and dlp-link glasses. The blacks will look better with dlp-link glasses.
