I think its slightly to the right of the middle at the bottom near the Mitsu logo. I tried to put my center channel there and it wouldn't take any remote commands. You could also try shining a flashlight on the front, you might be able to find it that way.

I'm hitting Menu, 2 4 7 0 on my 73737 to see the total hours of use. Except, it just says total hours of use: 0. Am I doing this wrong or something? How do I figure out the time on the lamp? Do I have to hit initialize?

Also: If I hit Menu 3 5 6 4 to see the error codes listing, which also show time of use: it says - '0'

Is the because I haven't gotten 50 hours on the set yet?

I have noticed that sometimes when I try to watch a blu Ray or xbox 360 the tv does not get the video signal. I have also noticed when watching tv in will not display tv video until I change the channel. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Mitsubishi wd-65c9.

Hi all. I'm still working my way through this thread....made it to August so far!

Thanks to all the posters here, I decided I will be purchasing either the 73C9 or the 73737 sometime in the nest couple of days. Tiger Direct seems to have a good price on the 73C9. Does anyone have any experience good or bad with Tiger? Rumors welcome and appreciated

I've used TigerDirect to buy a DLP before, about 4 years ago. It was a 50" Samsung model. The purchase went fine, and although the delivery was somewhat mucked up, they refunded the shipping for me, which more than made up for it. A friend of mine recently bought a 65" Sony LCD off of there for quite a bit of money and it didn't arrive for several weeks, because it was apparently on back-order. When he bought it on their site, though, it never said it was on back order, and he was under the impression that it would arrive in 7 to 10 days, but it took almost a month. However, once it arrived it was perfect as far as condition and quality, and he loves the TV (I like it, too). Another one of my buddies that ordered off of their site got the wrong TV, although he called in and talked to one of their sales reps, who I think shafted him on purpose. So I would say, just be careful and check through everything. If there are any problems, make sure to complain and demand that they take money off of the price, they have plenty of wiggle room to do so, and they did it for me. Also ensure that you get the right model.

Good luck!

I've had pretty good luck with Tiger Direct. Look at the open box items. I got a 65737 for a better price than a C9.

I'm getting a 73c9 delivered hopefully by the end of the week and i'm wondering about the height of the stand. Is it best to have the center of the screen at eye level or does it really matter that much.

Wasn't this an 'open box' set? It may be that it was already returned for the same issues you're having now. My 82837 looks pretty good on SD, and OTA HD from local stations looks very good. BluRay is freaking incredible, and even SD DVDs look great upscaled from my Oppo BDP-83.

Get something that outputs real HD connected and see what it looks like, if it's no good get that set back on a truck to the dealer....

I bought my 73c9 from Amazon. It was about $20 more than Tiger. I've had a lot of good transactions with them so thats the way I went.

It is best to have the screen at eye level. If that is not possible you can title it down slightly also. The brightness shifts as you move up and down so aiming it right at you hits the sweet spot.

Thanks, I picked up material this morning and will be building it today to the right hight.

I really haven't seen anything that would work right for the way we're set up at any stores or online, so I'm making a built in.

This may be silly but has anyone with a 73737 tried pushing the screen outward from the inside to get rid of the bowed in shape ? Probably a silly idea.

This is mostly noticeable when watching 4:3 content, can't get rid of it with geometry adjustments in the service menus.

Do all 73" come with this bowed in shape? I still have about 2 months during which I can return the TV to costco, but I definitely don't want to go with anything smaller.

It seems like these screens are slightly too large for the frame of the TV and the pressure causes them to bow in. I wonder if theres some physical adjustment around the frame of the screen that can be preformed to make it fit a little better.

Let me know if you find out anything...my 65c9 bows in on the right side - it's especially apprarent on 4:3 SD stuff...the geometry correction made it look better and I can live with it (who watches SD anymore anyway?), but still not the way I'd like it.

A lot of commercials on HD channels are in 4:3 format, I just can't believe these would be designed with this error. It must be an error when the screens were physically installed in the frame.

I just measured the bow in and theres 0.4" difference between top/bottom and middle of the screen.

Does anyone know the factory settings in the service menu in HVPO for the following?

CCA
GRWh
GGWH
GBWH
IDL
DBK

I was tweaking the geometry and want to make sure I did not accidentally change these as I was going back and forth a lot in the menu.

Also, does restoring the geometry to backup change these factors back to the factory setting also? I looked in the service manual, but did not find any answers.

Thanks.

I think this is pretty common, my 73787 does it also. I cannot "tweak" it out with geometry either. However, I do have it looking good enough that only I notice it.

Also, all 4 737/837 models I've owned have slightly vayring amounts of bowing in the physical screen. I don't think the frame quite fits the screen. But the geometry alignment makes it pretty darn close to perfect for me!

I bought my 65737 from ABT electonics. It was a bill cheaper than Tiger and free shipping. Only downside was it took over a week to get it but I was in no hurry. Very happy with the picture. Very bright, contrast is pleasing. Blacks are dark and lots of pop. I was nervous about buying sight unseen but these forums helped a lot. My friends are all amazed it's a dlp and not an LCD.

Can someone please post a picture on what the geomtry picture should look after the correct settings are posted?

I can verify this. I have a wd60c9 and have those options on my in the advanced mode. By the way, loving the picture on the television. I'm getting close to 300 hours on the lamp, so I'll get it calibrated soon.

Does geometry correction fix the screen overscan? Take a look at my picture to see the lines on the left, and top of the screen. I do not see the three lines that are visible on the right and bottom of the screen. How can I fix this and how do you turn off geometry correction? The yellow green and white lines are present on the right and bottom of the screen.

That doesn't look too bad for the factory setting. Just some shifting to the right seems like it would do the trick.

Is it recommended to turn off geometry correction?

Hmm, you're the second person to mention this is relationship to the Advanced mode on the C9s. Are the SharpEdge and DeepField Imager options in the main Picture menu as well? They are on the 737s.
Very good question.

(Though I keep DeepField Imager off all the time, and rarely fiddle with SharpEdge, since it's just a on/off toggle for the Sharpness setting.)

I recommend it to anyone attaching an XBOX, PlayStation or computer to it, because the poorly implemented geometry algorithm introduces a moiré pattern in fine/computer generated textures.

That is *if* your "natural" geometry isn't too bad, isn't worse than an occasional moiré pattern.

It can't fix all of the overscan -which is ~2.5% on each side.

What you should aim for, more than bringing those line into view, and more than making the distances of the lines from the edge match on each side, is simply to get the lines straight. Everything else will be imperceptible, especially in comparison to the 10% image we lose from overscan (2.5% on each side, times 4).
Has anyone noticed that the center of the screen is blurrier than the rest of the screen? I mean the pixels themselves -not as tack sharp in the center of the screen as they are closer to the edges of the screen.

It's quite noticeable (and testable) with a computer, with fine text: fine text in the 1/3 left and 1/3 right of the screen is tack sharp, but the same fine text placed into the 1/3 center of the screen is less sharp. (The band of blurriness may be less than a third -maybe a fourth or fifth of the width.)

This could be due to screen bowing: focus is dependent on that screen being perfectly flat, and if the center bows in or out, it effectively becomes out of focus.

Any ideas on cause or fix welcome.
