For those of you that bought from Dell and had it delivered: what company do they use and how do you schedule the delivery? I am thinking about getting and DLP but need it delivered to a vacation home and who need to make sure I could be there when they drop it off. Do you give you a date and time or do they work with you and tell you the days and times that are available?

Dell used Pilot to deliver mine in CA. I got tracking information from Dell, then a call later from Pilot to schedule delivery. They let me pick 1 of 3 four hour windows for delivery on my preferred date.

I have a question for other owners. I have a 73c9 with the V41C 011.02 firmware, and I'm having trouble getting ch.31, an OTA station in my area, with the built in digital tuner. I have 2 different DTV boxes that picks up the channel no problem. They're all hooked up to the same rooftop antenna. The channel doesn't even show up in the edit channel window, whereas most other channels that don't get a signal are at least in the window but without a checkmark next to it.

I've tried hooking it up directly to the antenna without any splitters and double rescanning to clear the channel memory without any success at getting the channel to show up. Anyone else have a similar problem? Do you think a call in to Mitsubishi would help?

I'm not sure why so much emphasis seems to be placed on viewing height of the TV. I can't tell any difference in picture quality between watching the set sitting down, standing up or laying down. I haven't upgraded my dish network service to include HD yet though. What exactly are you folks referring to as far as picture quality differences seen with different viewing heights? Thanks.

The picture starts to lose brightness if it's up too high, I'm surprised you can't see it. Have you tried squatting while looking at the TV? Other than that it's just best at eye level, ever watch a TV hung high on a wall? It's absolutely horrible and uncomfortable.

Got my WD60C9 from Dell last Thursday.

I've been tweaking the color, every input has a different set up.

So far I'm very happy.

Firmware:

V41C 011.01

Date of manufacture:

May 2010

It all looks the same to me.

Ordered the 73C9 from Dell on Saturday of last week, received a call from Pilot on Wednesday saying they should have it in town on Thursday, another call on Thursday saying they could deliver it on Friday and Friday morning I had it! I am probably pretty lucky in that I am in North Florida and the TV shipped from Georgia.

Box was in perfect condition, no problems with TV, couldn't be happier!

Of course my wife had to go out and buy a new console to put the TV on. What killed me is the console weighs at least twice what the TV does!

I see that a local store were I live is selling a 73 incher for a great price BUT it is open box and has a scratch on the screen. Will mitsubishi honor the screen warranty and replace the screen? What do you all think?

After spending all week fruitlessly attempting to get Mitsubishi to simply _schedule_ a service call on my WD-60C9, I'm guessing they probably won't honor the warranty on an open box, AND that you most likely don't even want to have to deal with Mitsubishi's crap overseas customer service that seems to have gone way downhill in recent months (if the replies here mirroring my experience are any indication).

Does anyone have a recommendation for at what point I should start to talk to my credit card company about refund or an Amex warranty claim if Mitsubishi is unable (or unwilling) to service my TV under warranty?

My WD65C9 recently broke and mitsubishi was actually pretty helpful with me. (I bought through Dell who basically won't do anything to help you but I expected as much)

I just told them what was wrong and they had a guy come in like 3 days. The guy came and said they were ordering new main board and he'd be back in a week to fix it. If he shows up in a week I"ll say it was a pretty good experience.

Start talking when you realize nothing is being done. But it seems to me that they would honor a warranty even if it were a floor model, let-alone an open box purchase.

Very Strange. They must all be coming from the same place.

The only reason to roll back firmware is if there's a bug.

Maybe you need the eye test.
I guess if you don't have optimal lighting in your room the height of the TV could be important. I think the manual says 30 degrees from the viewer to the center of the screen is the max for optimal viewing. I don't see any difference from 0 to 30, or even beyond that.

The store manager where I bought my set told Mits he is giving me a new 82838 to replace my 82837. Got it a couple of days ago and I am very pleased.
I notice a sharper, brighter picture quality. Has a sound bar and internet connect which I don't need, I have a sound system and use my blu-ray player for Netflix. The remote is much larger and easier to use.
I am really surprised though at the improvement of the PQ and brightness. I thought it would be the same as the 82837. Maybe my 82837 was not up to specs to begin with.

Well if I need an eye test so does everyone else that owns a DLP. Has nothing to do with lighting. As I said I don't know why you can't see it, maybe your TV is tilted forward. Every DLP does it.

Sounds like your being treated right. I hope the gremlins are gone for good.

It does matter how far away from the set you are as well. The further you are, the less difference it makes. I watch our 65" from below floor level quite comfortably from a distance of 30' or so.

That "squat test" upstream will make a very noticeable difference at 2', less so at 10'. When I go from sitting to standing with our 60" (yes, we have two) from my secondary position at ~15', I can't say I notice a brightness difference.

If everyone that owns this set would see a light shining from the TV it would be very distracting and they would return it.

Yes I said "If I look underneath and up" but that's not how I watch my TV apparently you do. Many of us watch it in a completely dark or dimly lit room. I've also had my set at 24" and didn't notice the light. So if you're watching it as normal people would, the answer is no you shouldn't be seeing the light.

IS THERE ANYONE ELSE ON THIS THREAD THAT SEES THE LIGHT FROM THE BULB ON THESE SETS DURING NORMAL VIEWING? SHOULD I START A POLL?

Thanks, you are so nice for asking everyone for me.

Well I was called today telling me the part "the main board" isn't in and they have to cancel my appointment for wed.

So we'll see ...........

Georule you should keep in mind that vertical viewing angle issues go up dramatically with screen size. A 60" will have the widest vertical veiwing and the lamp will provide the most illumination per inch of screen. Also I imagine the effect is even more pronounced on the sets with an iris. By the time you get to an 82837 which is not a bright set with a high gain screen, an inch or two difference in stand height evern at 14' is very noticeable. 30 feet, 30 feet???

It's a split-level house (that's why I can watch the 65" from below floor level). That's from the kitchen making dinner, looking across the kitchen, dining room, and up to the living room on the upper level to the TV in the far living room corner. Either my wife or I, or both, watch that TV that way at least a few minutes every day.

That's not even by accident that it is so --one of our key criteria for picking acceptable living quarters is being able to see the TV from the kitchen. It's been true for all five of the residences we've shared as a couple.

Extreme example? Sure. Just saying --distance makes a difference on that issue. But as you note, size could as well for the bigger ones.

I had to call again today because they haven't called me by the time they stated. Getting their overseas customer service is, as always, atrocious. All they do is the same thing every time, stating, "We need to contact the service center," followed by, after ten minutes on hold, "The service center needs to contact our Warranty Authorization department. We will contact you by tomorrow afternoon to schedule your service appointment. Is there anything else we may assist you with?"

Of course, the local service company contacted Mitsubishi Warranty Authorization dept. last week on Monday, and again on Wednesday. They haven't gotten any response.

So, today I learned how to at least get past the overseas support! When calling Mitsubishi's 1-800-332-2119 number, press 8 to bypass overseas support and go directly to their Irvine, CA native English speaking support lines. These people don't give the runaround, but we'll see if their actual support is any better since today is the first time I've contact them.
