folks, i am building out the diy master index sticky thread by including a list of the most common _drivers_ in projects. there are lots of great drivers around and i am asking for your help to identify them all...not every driver, but the ones that either you have used in a diy success or that you would refer to a friend to build diy. much gratitude to everyone who adds to the list!

current list (don't worry, i'll clean it all up later, let's just get all the great drivers on the list first):

Have used both in DIY projects, and been happy with the results.

Are you going to posts links to their sites? That might help some people.
Are you looking for subs that are still in production? I know the old Adire stuff (Brahma/Tumult) was really good but you can only find them used now.

You can add the JBL 15GTi to the list though.

yeah. good point.

i started the master list of diy subwoofer projects, which is now a sticky and i thought that drivers and amps would be a good addition to that. i started linking up some of the drivers, but then decided to focus on building out the list as much as possible, then i can go back, format it all, and link them all up.

We call an 8" a midrange around these parts. LOL

I'm so used to seeing 18's that 12's have been looking a little midrangey to me lately...

Here.

On their website they have a "locate dealer" and from there say that if there's not a dealer close by call their number and they'll ship directly to you. Here's the number.

Yeah.... I think you were poisoned at the GTG...

How about this
http://www.eighteensound.com/index.a...roduct&pid=286

Only 2.2dB power compression at 0dB.

Then we'll wait for John to do a TD21H with 18mm or something....

Maybe not around these parts, but they are very effective and suitable for home theater builds. As has been demonstrated by some of the build at Audioholics.

The JL Audio 12w7 may be the best 12" sub on the planet. It's certainly one of the best.

Don't dismiss the JL Audio 8w7. It's capable of incredible extension and spl. It's actually comparable if not better than most 12" subs. With a little eqing its a very nice home theater sub.

Plus it works well in a small enclosure. Nothing like a small box and sub to lull people into a false sense of security and have them looking around for the subwoofer. It's a funny picture to see.

I'm only trying to help you folks by adding a list of drivers I know to be good in home theater from the car side. it gives people a lot more options and some of these subs are low cost making for nice budget builds.

The Infinity Kappa build over at Audioholics is very popular. Works perfectly for a HT sub.

Yes, but you are using them as bass bins.

Well, I know 12" drivers barely qualify for this list

But I am using 3 12" Soundsplinter RLp12 D2 for my IB setup, I am very happy with them!
