Which meter did you get? I've been thinking to get that calman with colormunki set. That would give me much more accuracy. Or is there some cheaper combo with same accuracy?
I got my i1 Display LT replaced under warranty (no charge) and they gave me a i1 Display 2 by accident (I would assume it wasn't intentional). Anyway, the meter itself is no different, other than that is a Rev. B and the old one was a Rev. A. I can't speak for any other meters or CalMAN, as I don't have anything other than my i1 Display and ColorHCFR.
My panel is also the AA01, and I am currently using a backlight setting of 5, contrast of 100, and brightness of 44. Apparently, even raising contrast from 95 to 100 raises light output significantly and increases contrast ratio considerably too. I would look at your backlight and contrast settings if I were you, since the contrast ratio of most affected by those settings.
