HDMI Audio vs New Audyssey Features

Hi All,

I am just looking for advice from anyone who has the new Audyssey Features (Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume) ... I am looking at getting a new receiver there seems to be great deals out there on the Denon 1609/1709 models (sub $200 prices) which come with the new Audyssey features, and i am wondering if the new audyssey features mixed in with the great price are a better value than spending more for HDMI (lossless) audio. I have not yet heard the difference between lossless audio through HDMI versus optical audio so if anyone could offer their thoughts i would be very appreciative.

I do understand that the Denon 1609/1709 models do not do audio over HDMI, i am just curious as to the actual listening difference, and the value of the new Audyssey features. Any input is appreciated, thanks!

What do you have for BD playback? Is it a PS3?

They reason I ask is because you can go with other OLDER AVRs that accept PCM from the PS3 or similar and that gives you lossless audio (HD audio) they will alsol give you so many more features then the cheapest Denons.

Yeah, sorry to not give details on my setup. I am looking for a receiver for my home theater, looking to connect my PS3, HD-A3 and Cable box (all HDMI capable). My current speaker setup contains all Polk audio, CSR Center + 2 Monitor 50's for the front, and two satellites in the rear/side (can't recall the model # at the moment). I currently have the AV devices going through an HDMI switch and then going to the projector (HC1500).

Yeah i have seen/read the posts about the LPCM audio that the PS3 will transmit being handled by other AVR's and have been intrigued. In particular i have looked at the Onkyo 576 as an option, and am wondering what the difference between that Onkyo (with the LPCM audio) versus the Denon's and the multiple Audyssey features ... also that receiver looks to be about $100 more than the Denon's.
