VSX-03TXH weak on bass (w/ no sub)?

I just brought home my new Pioneer Elite VSX-03TXH yesterday and it hooked it up, and whereas overall I'm pretty happy with it, I have to say that is sounds pretty weak on the bass when I'm just playing stereo music. I've cranked the bass up, turned the loudness on, and made sure I had all the surround processing off, but it still seems pretty weak compared to my old receiver, which was a nearly-nine-year-old lower end Yamaha. The amp in that Yamaha produced some rich, warm bass though, and was great for playing music. The 03TXH has a nice clean sound (especially love it on acoustic stuff), but lacks the warmth and the deep pass punch. When I barely turned my bass one notch above flat on the Yamaha, it had twice the richness/deepness of bass that I'm getting w/ the bass on my Pioneer fully cranked. I'm hoping I'm just missing a setting somewhere. Any thoughts? Does Pioneer just assume you'll have a sub, and offer pretty weak bass output/management if you don't? I have some great Paradigm speakers that output some great sound, so I want to be able to reach their potential! If I don't get this fixed, it might be a deal-breaker for me, forcing me to return it, as music is the most important to me (over movies/surround).

Nevermind.... After talking to a couple guys at my shop, I discovered I had overlooked the EQ adjustments under Manual MCACC, so now I'm able to get my sound a little more inline with what I was expecting.
