HELP! Component Hook up Question

Thread Starter
Per the advice on this forum, I bought the Panasonic PT-AX220U projector. I am also purchasing a Blu-ray/surround sound system (Sony BDV-IS1000). My question / problem is how to I hook up my projector, surround sound system, Directv HD/DVR and a PS2 all together so i can utilize the surround sound with any of the input devices? I have seen the HDMI Switchers but am unsure if I can use that as it would be an 'input' into the switcher. Any help here would be great as this is my first projector and my first home theater system. Thanks so much everyone, this site is awesome.

Your audio system should come with lots of inputs. Does it allow HDMI input and take audio from that input as well?

I try to use the best each component has available. If the source component has HDMI, I use that for audio and video, if the source only has component out, then I use component for video and optical / coax for digital audio.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, what would be in "input" to the switcher?

Regardless, it looks like the Sony has two HDMI inputs, and one output.

You can use one HDMI input for your direct TV box.
You would need to use a component input from the PS2, and then use a digital audio line from the PS2 to the Sony for audio.
