FireWire 800 9pin/4pin for MacBook/Denon Receiver

I'm interested in using a MacBook Pro to play high-resolution music files (24/192) into my Denon 4806 receiver. Its DACs will handle that resolution. Denon says that the IEEE1394 port on the receiver should work with the MacBook. I certainly hope they're right!

Does anyone have any experience about using a 9pin FireWire 800 -> 4pin IEEE1394 cable to connect these types of devices?

No problem found ... 9-pin to 4-pin cables will work / connect to both, Apple and Devon. Data transfer rates are plenty fast enough (>40 MegaBytes per second / >400 mbps) ... for 24bit/96k (or higher), multichannel (Dolby 5.x and 7.x) or professional 4 to 16 channel 24bit/96k streaming.

The best 9-pin cables are from Newnex and Unibrain.

Thanks for the reply!

We tried this, and the Plasma monitor showed the message "MacBook Not Play". Apparently, the two devices would not handshake, but the Denon did recognize what was hooked up to it.

Maybe Devon has a driver or software support for Apple Mac? LG and Panasonic have made monitors for Devon in the past ... might try "selecting" one of those from the MacBook list of monitors supported ... or find a Panasonic driver for Apple OS.
