I have been using the same settings more or less from day one...movie mode with contrast around 90, cell light at 10 and color mode at warm 1. Other settings are pretty standard. Didn't do a full blown break in but was pretty careful about the bars the first month or so (early on I had contrast around 75/80 and cell light at 8) and I should be well past that now. The pictures are a good idea. Will just let it run for a while.

There is nothing wrong with using Standard with any settings one prefers.
Dynamic is a whole other story.
I use Standard while watching TV most of the time. I use Movie for movies but sometimes I like a kicked up picture when viewing movies and I use Standard.

I have had zero IR issues and my 860 is nearly a year old.

DLNA plays almost everything I've thrown at it, other than mkv containers with DTS audio. I've watched atleast a hundred movies. It has limited functionality(FFW), but I enjoy it.

PS3 streaming is excellent as long as you use PS3 media server

When you go to bed run the scrolling overnight and see if that fixes the issue. I hate it when people tell me to turn the brightness down on MY tv. I'll watch it how I please thank you.

I have my Sammy for about 5 months. Worked perfectly, no abuse, break in gently.

After watching PPV UFC 114 last night, I turned it off as usual. This morning, while my children were watching cartoon, and I was at work, the TV turn black!!

Using the remote, I can only turn it on and off, with the greeting chime but nothing else, obviously not the main power issue, which is guarded by a Panamax.

No response what so ever with the menu button or any other button, including the source, channel...

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Chances are I will take this back to the seller but, wow.

PS: quick search in this thread with "blackout", "black dead" showed nothing so is this post.

Thanks for all of e feedback. I ended up running the art and landscape slides for a an hour or so and I ink it did the trick. The sidebars appear to be gone.

Have you tried unplugging the power from the TV for a few minutes and then plugging it back in?

Yea but does it play it well?... I can say it runs most files but the picture and sizing is all screwy.

PS3 is the way to go for streaming... in my opinion.

Is there any fix for the bonehead move I did in the service menu?

Was in there looking at time used and I went into HDMI calibration. Instead of exit with the menu key....I hit the arrow key and now HDMI calibration is no longer success....but failure

The picture seems fine...but would like to see if I can get the HDMI success fixed.

Please help.

Sorry to bother again.

I did manage to fix the HDMI failure in the ADC target menu.

I was wodering if someone would be kind enough to send me or post pics of their menu. I was in HDMI 2 when I messed up and pulled off this bonehead move in the serive menu and got the HDMI error.

I would like to compare my settings in the ADC result menu and the White Balance menu

I tried to go to the local tv stores here to see if i can find any 850 around but no cigar.....so I have no reference I can get a hold of.

The picture quality is as good as the source. It's plays all the movies from beginning to end without any glitches. PS3 is may be the best option, but for those who have a computer and television and don't want to fork over the extra money for a PS3 just to stream movies, at works.

Im still a little worried about my mess up in the service menu

Thanks to ClarkeBar i was able to correct some things.

But It would be really helpfull if someone could post there settings in the ADC menu

I just want to make sure mine are very similar. I have some inputs that are greyed out that I think should have some inputs.

Also....if reinstalling firmware fix this issue? If so.....how can u reinstall firmware?

First off , I have had my 860 since November without any issues or buzzing. I love it.
All of a sudden my Verizon DVR lost sync with the set.
Has anyone had any issues with their QIP6416-2 and the hdmi port dropping out sync with their TV's after a recent remote firmware upgrade(verizon box)? First Verzion said my HDMI cable was bad and that it was a known issue with their cables?? Fortunately I had additional HDMI cables to test. They offered and sent me component video cables to solve my problem, I told them the cable was good. I swapped hdmi cables and HDMI ports on my TV to no effect, my PS3 system via HDMI works fine, so I knew it was not the TV or HDMI cable.. Eventually level 2 support admitted to having fielded a new firmware update that is likely causing my issues. I talked with tech support again today and they are sending a replacment unit to see if that will fix my issue. Anyone else with similiar issues or suggestions on how to fix my system?

I just came back from a one week trip. I turn on my TV and I see a couple of red dots (pixels) randomly showing up and disappearing. they are generally spread around the upper edge and the upper right section of the TV. It last for about one or two minutes then the number of "crazy dots" is gradually decreasing until everything is back to normal.

It seem to occur mainly when I switch to my PS3. Most of the erratic pixels are red but blue and green one also appears. It also seem to stick to an image so if you have for example a white box when it will disappear the erratic pixels will appear where the white box was so you can still see the white box was there (lightly similar to IR but with mainly red dancing dot forming the new image vs white allow for IR).

I did some research on the internet and found a picture describing this effect. It seem to be call "Image Sticking Mal-Discharge". Anyone ever encountered this? I have not called Samsung yet but will do shortly as I don't think this is normal. My TV is only few months old.

Do you think it will ever be possible to get the PN58B860 to play 3D content? I hate the idea that I just bought this gorgeous set in December, and would need to go buy the 8000 if I wanted 3D content. I know Samsung says they won't support it, but I'm trying to figure out if it's a real hardware limitation of the display, or if it's possible that a firmware update (or hack) could allow 3D content to play. I'm going to go out on a very short limb and guess "no", but with thousands of us with this set, it would be cool if there was a way to do it.
