Upscaling questions for new HTPC build

My wife and I have been watching our dvds ripped into MP4 on the PS3 for months now, and I just built our first HTPC as the hub of the the new setup. Now I realize how much the Playstation was upscaling the video files.

How can I make the HTPC upscale the same way onto the 1080p LCD? What software...what player...etc...?

The build is:

Silverstone LC17
Asus P5N7A-VM motherboard with GeForce9300 (HDMI)
Intel Q8200 Core 2 Quad
4GB Ram

Running Windows 7 RC1 64bit

Vizio 42" 1080p LCD

Everything worked right out of the box(es) and it encodes so fast I want to cry tears of joy.

watch the video to see how to setup and install the software: link

Read my experiences with windows 7 to see how you too can set it up: link

Of note is I do not upscale, but I use gaussian blur instead. If all you want is to upscale then first read follow the link above and ignore the avisynth part and follow the rest of the guide.

I followed all your instructions except the part in the video where you jumped off screen to grab some code...where did that come from?

The video files on the PC still look crappy compared to what the PS3 did for the same MP4 files.

The resize has new multiply values from what the video showed. Maybe try setting it as shown in the ffdshow picture?
