This was not to watch her so much (though don't get me wrong, she is imminently watchable) as to watch the blonde dancer who looked so much like Laura Dern. One of the dancers at the beginning dance in the basement looked a great deal like this young woman. Any chances it might have been the same dancer?

I must have missed your post because that's who I was talking about. I didn't see SNL, but I wouldn't doubt it's the same person. She's obviously been cast for her dancing ability, and they make sure to have her in the background enough to sort of subliminally get her in your head so it's not weird when she suddenly shows up dancing her butt off.

Looks like her. She didn't come up on IMDB as appearing in either the Beyonce video or the SNL episode, but it was a very incomplete entry.

To date, Glee is the show I look forward to the most each week. And I usually go back and revisit the musical numbers a couple of times. "I bust the windows out your car" has become my favorite new song.

really good ep tonight...Kristin Chenowith was hysterical. i gotta say, this show is really coming together for me...at first, i wasn't blown away, but i'm really starting to like it and it's made my "Watch The Night It Airs" list...on delay, of course. does anyone watch live TV anymore?

This episode blew my mind away! WOW! What an amazing mix of drama, comedy, and music! "Somebody to Love" was the best performance to date. And I'm finally feeling the groove of the mid-episode numbers. #1 new show of the year!
I LOVE "Somebody to Love"! My wife was like "Who sings this song?" Queen of course! That was an awesome number by them...a lot better than "Don't Stop Believin'" (which is really good as well).

I like this week better than most for two reasons ----1 very little of that idiot cheerleader coach, I hate her and FF though all the crap. 2. Very little of that idiot flunky of hers that is doing the school play.

Dump both of those characters and I'd watch every week, I'd even tolerate the wife with the fake preg. I want more of Fame-esque show, focus on the kids and their learning process.

Extremely good show this evening on all fronts.

There were definitely some story lines absent tonight to give our special guest star her due screen time. But I like the cheerleader coach scheming. What I *was* grateful for, was the very little mention of the fake pregnancy story.

I agree 100%, plus it has a healthy dose of twisted surrealism to give it that "can't quite put your finger on it weirdness", what an utterly refreshing piece of television.

That's funny. Because while I really enjoyed the pilot, it's been downhill for me ever since. So much so that after last night, I removed it from the DVR. Just too many annoying characters. Couple that with a host of new shows I'm enjoying - and didn't expect to - and that leads to Glee getting the boot. Oh well, gave it a shot.

Wow... I think this show has gotten better week after week. I, too, have started watching the night it airs. That's pretty huge for me.
The one thing I wouldn't mind seeing is a rival performance from the Cheerios. More of a rivalry sort of thing, though two different types of performances I understand.

wow...i'm surprised to hear you say that...i think Jane Lynch is hysterical and adds a lot to the show. i do agree that they sprinkled just the right amount of the fake pregnancy this week. i also agree that the storyline for last night's ep was perfect and gave Kristin Chenowith much deserved face time...she's a fantastic actress and performer.

I'm not trying to be a hater, but why all the love for Kristen Chenowith? I can't think of too many other performers that grate on my nerves more. Maybe it's because I link her inclusion on "The West Wing" cast with the dark years of that show. But I've seen her in other things and God, I can't wait for her to leave the screen each time. Last night was no exception.

I'm in this camp, thought this has been the best episode to date. That song at the end just pulled it all together.

I just love this show. I really enjoy watching it. Great humor, great music, excellent show.

Did you see her in 'Pushing Daisies', sangs? She was terrific there, sort of in her natural element of musical comedy. More so than in TWW, where she was good, but may have been cast more because Sorkin has always had a thing for her. Can't say I blame him.

Each to his own but having seen her on a number a TV shows, the DVD of Candide and, more importantly, onstage in Wicked, she is Aces for me. Her voice is amazing and her natural soprano is teriffic. I thought that she was outstanding last night and the juxtaposition of her and Lea Michele singing was wonderful. It was a almost a face-off between an established true Broadway diva and a diva in waiting if that's the route that Lea chooses (based on her run in Spring Awakenings). You could see however, that Chenowith is more experienced and polished and should be. She really sold her numbers last night.

What was nice about that was that Amber Riley got the big time solo at the end and you even got to hear Kevin McHale ("wheelchair boy") blow a bit. There's a video clip online of the cast doing this number in a live performance and these kids can flat out sing. I still wish that, when the studio tracks are recorded, the multi-tracking could be cut down a bit. While the numbers do sound great, they are a bit too great at times. A slightly "thinner" sound might be more in keeping with the performance sequences. That aside, we love the show and always look forward to the next week's episode.

I loved last night's episode. I have been a Kristen Chenoweth fan for many years. It's no wonder she has become a Broadway star, that fire and ice voice blows me away. I thought the non-duet duet with Chenoweth and Lea Michelle was great and the closing production number, featuring Michelle and Cory Monteith (Finn), was wonderful too. It was a pleasure to see Chenoweth playing a character of her own age who also has a lot of baggage. I think that Chenoweth, who is 4'11", and Michelle, 5'2", must be the tiniest big-voiced musical theater singers on the planet.

I have been disappointed to see that some posters clearly don't appreciate Glee's The Office like "Cringe Comedy." It's scenes like that where the show becomes truly original and the supremely talented Jane Lynch and Stephen Tobolowsky really shine, it seems to me. Oh well, not everybody likes The Office either. Anyway, in my estimation, this already delightfully entertaining show just keeps getting better and better.

Absolutely roger on that. Jane Lynch is always spectacular, especially in Judd Apatow directed and/or produced films (hilarious in 40 Year Old Virgin and Role Models). Stephen Tobolowsky is one of the best and busiest character actors in the business. A few months ago Starz ran a show about character actors and Tobolowsky and the great Danny Trejo were prominently featured. Jane Lynch may have been profiled as well. It's well worth watching if it's shown again.

Addendum: The show was "The Face is Familiar" and it featured Joan Cusack, Stephen Tobolowsky, Danny Trejo, Jane Lynch, Michael Madsen, William Sanderson, Luis Guzman, Veronica and Angela Cartwright, Missi Pyle and several others. Really good stuff!

Tobolowsky is wonderful always to me - he just killed me in Groundhog Day. If Jane had the fake pregnancy and the guy was single it would be a better show I can't believe someone figured a way to get Danny Trejo in a thread on Glee, now I've got him stuck in my head as part of the cast. Jane's new nemesis maybe.
I still remember Jane Lynch from the "flour the kids" Sprint PCS commercial. Even there she stole the show.

(The whole series was way better than Sprint's current ads too.)

If the man can sing and dance, he's in

I wish you hadn't said that. Now I will wonder for the rest of the day what a Glee episode directed by Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarantino and guest starring Danny Trejo would be like.

Oh wow... that would definitely be a must-see for sure!

Visions of samurai dance in my head

Vague connection but I couldn't resist. I'm thinking Jane as Butch and Danny as Zed ... and then they break out in song!

Loved Kristen Chenoweth in this episode. I love her voice wish I could see her live on Broadway someday. I also thought that this was one of the best shows of the season. Glee has quickly become one of my favorite shows and I didn't think I was going to like it at all. Probably the most entertaining show on TV IMO.
Add me to the "loved it!" list for this episode (and I think the series is just getting better each week).

As soon as "Itty Bitty" appeared (fans of Pushing Daisies will recognize the nickname), I knew it was going to be good. And it exceeded good.

There were some great one-liners in there, too.

"There's always Branson." I laughed for a good couple of minutes. (It's probably funny most to music people or those that have been to Branson.)

"I think they call that 'The Full Silkwood'."

"I huffed a lot of upholstery cleaner in the '90's."

"... 11 yo milkmaid."

"... get you sobered up, find you some underwear ..."

(... something about her backpack and empties clinking ...)

And the Queen number - just wonderful.
