Miami? What service?

OTA with the rabbit ears. WLTV-DT 23.1 and WAMI-DT 69.1 are 1080i now, but I haven't seen any HD show up yet. Just SD with black bars.

While channel-surfing, I found that Telefutura is airing Vecinos in HD.

I'm watching via WAMI-DT Miami OTA.

Any one know when Cleveland Univision will be going HD?

Univision HD showing their first full HD program with roses parade.

We dont have it yet (Brighthouse, Orlando FL). Don't know if we'd ever get it.

It has the UHD logo and the format is in letterbox when you stretch it in the regular channel. If you watch normal size, it's a square with black borders in all four sides.

Parade looked good in HD here in Brooklyn, NY. During the first half of the parade, they announcers would not stop talking about the fact that it was in HD, "this is a gift to us for the new year," "for those fortunate enough to be watching in HD ...," "if you're not seeing this the same as if you were here, please call your cable provider to get HD ..."

Right now, Telefutura is showing GANGS OF NEW YORK in HD.

I contacted Verizon about getting the NYC area Univision HD & TeleFutura HD stations on the Northern NJ FiOS system and was told a request has been made to the person who manages the Univision account.

Last night, while watching Jeepers Creepers 2 ("El Demonio 2") on Telefutura 68.1 NYC OTA ... in High Definition ... there was an announcement saying that Latin television was going to change forever beginning February 1st and that I would be able to participate. This was a teaser announcement that did not state what the change would be.

I checked out their website ... but I can't figure out what they're talking about. I know they won't start broadcasting in 3-D ... anyone know what it is?

I live in Houston and my Hispanic parents have had my old HD tv for well over two years. Seeing as all they watch is Spanish television (Univision, Telemundo, ect) they almost never take full advantage of the tv they have. They have a HD-DVR but always watch just the Spanish programming.

I've heard that these stations finally started broadcasting in HD however it seems DTV has not yet added HD versions of these channels to their lineup. Any word on when this might happen, or can someone confirm that the OTA feed in Houston is already in HD?

The apartment complex I live in does not pick up any OTA stations, plus I have DTV and no need so I cannot test it out for myself.

Thanks

I have U-verse HD and don't have Univision on it, but I am watching VECINOS right now on Telefutura on HD 1080i with an over-the-air Antenna. I have a 1080i older Sony TV and "Vecinos" looks great.

Man, I wished CONTACTO DEPORTIVO was in HD.

Saludos desde Katy, Texas (west of Houston, getting 67.1 on HD).

p.s. It's funny, but I don't visit this site often and now that I was looking for HD information, I found your question and decided to answer.

It has arrived in Dallas. KUVN 23-1(Univision) and KSTR 49-1(Telefutura)are now transmitting in 1080I. on Telefutura now Vecinos is showing in HD and it looks QUITE sharp. Stunning PQ.

Watching 45.1 in Katy (KXLN feed from Houston)... Univision is showing "La Casa De La Risa" as a title on the "display" right now, but it's really "Un Gancho al Corazón"... also, "Hasta Que El Dinero Nos Separe" is on HD in prime time.

Novelas look so weird on HD.

I've also noticed recently, while channel surfing during the Commercial breaks of Corazón Salvaje On TELEVISA that Univision is showing the HD LOGO during Sortilegio!!! Does anyone know when Univision is going to start showing the Futbol games in HD on either Univision or Telefutura?

I haven't seen it.
Is it shot in 24p like that one was in 2005 or so? or in 60i like the CBS daytime soaps?

I think it was

The Law of Silence, a co-production with Fremantle in Texas, which is the first HD novela shot for Telemundo.

2005. Even though it was 4:3 center cut and aired as SD...

Any other Univision telenovelas obviously shot in 24p?

Saludos de Greenway, like I mentioned my apt complex does not allow me for OTA reception. However I wouldn't mind watching the ladies on Univision & Telemundo in HD. DirecTv needs to get on the ball! I'll be sure to add the .1 channels to my parents tv so the might finally get full use out of that tv

Those Brazilian telenovelas have pretty good plots ; finally were going to see the beauty of latin and south american women on HD. This will be very nice.

Univision Communications Inc. will offer full matches to distributors on demand as its kicks off its most extensive coverage of the world's most popular sporting event, the 2010 FIFA World Cup from South Africa.

Univision, which is expected to announce VOD schedules soon, will keep all of the matches on its on-demand platform through the end of the month-long tourney, running from June 11-July11, giving distributors the option as to how long they will make that content available to their digital customers. The contests, available in standard- and high-definition will be available the day after the matches conclude, according to Univision officials.

Beginning with the opener between the host nation South Africa and Mexico in a Group A matchup, all of the games will be broadcast live across every time zone in the country and each will have a minimum 30-minute pre- kickoff segment. The opening match, both semi finals and the final match will have a one-hour pre-game show.

Univision said it will pair Pablo Ramirez and Jesus Bracamontes and Jorge Perez-Navarro and Jose Luis Chilavert to call the matches in South Africa, with Fernando Fiore, the Emmy Award-winner presenter of Republica Deportiva (Sports Republic), hosting the games from the media company's studio at the International Broadcasting Center in Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.

Crews on-location in South Africa will bring soccer fans every exciting minute, beginning with player arrivals to the stadium, presentation of the teams as they come through the tunnel onto the field, warm-ups, pre-game interviews with the coaches, in-depth analyses and match re-caps. Univision and TeleFutura Networks' most popular programs including Despierta América (Wake-Up America), El Gordo y la Flaca (The Scoop and the Skinny), Primer Impacto (First Impact), República Deportiva and Contacto Deportivo (Sports Encounter) will feature special World Cup editions of their shows, highlighting the most exciting matches, exclusive and behind-the-scenes content, fan reactions, and cultural festivities around of all of the day's events.

In addition, Univision's news teams, including Noticiero Univision (Univision News), AquÃ* y Ahora (Here and Now) and Noticiero Univision Ultima Hora (The Eleventh Hour) will also be on location to report on South Africa, its customs and the latest World Cup news. All of Univision Television Group's local stations across the country will also provide extensive news coverage of the World Cup in their afternoon and late-night newscasts.

"The FIFA World Cup Tournament is the most important sporting event for Hispanics bar-none," said Alina Falcón, president of news, Univision Communications Inc. Dish Network to Add 6 HD Channels
TVPredictions.com

Washington, D.C. (May 12, 2010) -- Dish Network announced today that it has added five new High-Definition channels.

The new channels are: DIY HD, EPIX 2 HD, Investigation Discovery HD, Telefutura HD and Univision HD. In addition, Dish said it would add Galavision HD in early June.

Dish added eight HD channels last month and now claims to offer more than 200 HD channels. However, many of the "channels" are actually PPV movies that Dish is labeling as actual channels.

"For the second time in less than a month, DISH Network has expanded the largest HD lineup in the industry," said Tom Cullen, executive vice president of sales, marketing and programming. "We continue to lead the way in offering the best collection of HD movie channels in the nation, and are proud to be the only provider to offer all three of the most-watched Spanish-language networks in High definition."

RCN in Washington, DC added WFDC-DT (Univision) and WMDO-LD (Telefutura) to the HD lineup last week, presumably in preparation for their World Cup coverage. WFDC is airing some HD programming, but WMDO appears to be broadcasting SD widescreen or something. Programs with the Telefutura HD logo are showing up 4:3.
