It's crazy that more people are playing GTAIV and GOW2 over BFBC2. If EA had better servers BFBC2 should probably be at spot 2 or 3 IMO.

What's crazy is that there are still that many people are still playing WaW. I guess you should never underestimate the appeal of zombies.

Does this lag happen on PS3's?
I've been reading some of the PS3 forum on BFBC2 the past couple of days to get impressions of Onslaught. It seems that a majority of the PS3 users have abandoned this game due to lag problems also.

It is purely EA's fault this great game isn't getting the play time it deserves. I have seen several people say that if you switch your EA account to show that you are in the UK, you will connect to the UK servers and the lag is virtually nil. Somehow though, UK players are still complaing of lag on their end.

Purely EA's fault. This happened with BC1 too - though at least BC1 saw some support in terms of free maps and the addition of Conquest mode (and not 'we're adding a new game type to an existing map' free maps - real free maps).

DICE shouldn't be working on MOH - they should have been making maps to extend the life of this game. I'd pay $30 for 4 or 5 more maps and no lag....and not have to wait until 'Winter 2010' for them.

amen to that, bro. i would even accept half-assed versions of this-- say, several BFBC1 maps ported over but with no D2.0 capabilities. i mean, how hard would it be to port those existing maps over?

Same here. Give me some Par for the Course!

I've abandoned this game as well.. for over a month now. Waiting, waiting for something to be done about the lag issue. I would have assumed that it would have been addressed with a week.. but I guess not. What a great way to ruin a fantastic game. Oh well .. off to bigger and better games I suppose. Guess I'll sell my copy since single player is not where it's at with this one, it was all about online-- until the lag bug.

Onslaught mode is only a 956KB download... meaning the DLC is already on the disc... you just pay to unlock it .

awesome!

I think it was part of the last update you downloaded which was about 200 mb...
I've got a 456Mb download
Ok, so looks like another giant Multiplayer Update 2 came out (456MB) and Onslaught is there also at 950kb. Obviously they go hand in hand but I'm sure there's other updates included in that Update 2 since it's free...

Picking it up now if anyone is down for some Onslaught tonight. You getting it BigOrange?
Here's the skinny. 467Mb download actually. Went pretty fast, i guess no one is buying yet. Apparently it's a new update to improve gameplay. Onslaught has 4 maps with 4 levels of difficulty. You can join a public match or start a private match. It has it's own leaderboards. There is absolutely no lag.

I made that last part up.

So there is lag in Onslaught? I thought it was supposed to be P2P so we wouldn't be forced onto EA's servers.

Anyone know if the Multiplayer Update 2 got rid of at least some of the lag?

Someone posted this link in the PS3 thread that EA is in the process of fixing the lag problem.

Still some lag issues

Onslaught is a fun addition though. Lowgn, Scrub, and Link and myself had some fun and a fairly quick 120 achievement points tonight. The changes in the map are cool and the Ai is pretty good. I think you'll get wore out on the repetition pretty quick. It won't replace rush as my favorite, but it's a nice diversion. Having 3-4 players is a must especially on hardcore. Having players filling each role is pretty important also.

If the lag gets fixed as promised, I will be one happy camper. If they added the onslaught maps to the regular rotation, I would be even happier.

Does Onslaught count towards unlocking weapons or pins/badges? It would be kind of cheesy if it did, but I still need those shotgun kills.

There is 0 Lag in Onslaught. If there is lag, its your own fault for having a Walmart connection.

Care to explain then, how a Peer based connection game has lag, unless one of the members of the party has lag?

Playing onslaught last night with my brother (who lives 5 min from me), my friend from Philly, and my friend from DC was the first lag free game I've had in weeks.

yeah, i was in this game for the first few rounds, until i left and made room for Link... i didn't experience any lag whatsoever. it was glorious!

i wasn't planning on buying Onslaught, but i have to say, i'm happy i did. in the short amount of time i've had to try it, it's been a lot of fun... i agree that it's not going to replace Rush or anything, though...

without knowing each of our teams connection type, speeds, ping... we had rubber band lag and one (hard to explain) lag where we lost like two or three seconds of the game. Meaning I ran from one area to maybe 10 to 15 feet away from that position then got reset back to the orignial area. It may have been one of our connections. I can't explain anything more than what happened. there was a collective what on that two to three second lag instance.

It has to be lag by either the host of the game, or by someone else in the game.

Onslaught is built on a P2P connection - meaning that one of the members physically hosts the game. Any lag created is therefore made by the individuals in the game, or by NAT issues of the members connecting that individual (which I think is probably the bigger issue for most).

Can there be lag? Yes - but in this instance, it's not DICE/EA's fault.
i played rush for about 2 hours last night with no lag i did get kicked out 2 times once all the way back to the dash board and lowgn and me got kicked to the main menu once.

So, for the guys that have Onslaught, what's it like, is it worth it, should I pick it up?

I like it - its a good change of pace and I've always enjoyed team/squad based Bot killing. Allows you to really work well as a squad.

I also play with the same 3-4 people every night, so it's good for me that I have the built in squad experience. For someone that plays on their own a lot, it might be not so good.
Onslaught is fun -- with 2 players easy mode is challenging, but once we got to four in our squad we flew through it... It was a lot of fun going through the maps on hardcore mode. I do wish there were more than 4 maps but all of the time and day changes were really cool and I hope they make there way into regular MP.

Sal, as it's been said previously it's not a mode that will replace Rush as it's still the best in the game IMHO, but I can see this remaining fun to play every now and again and try out things. I discovered you can even play single player with unlimited lives so you can look at as practice grounds flying the Apache on the Atacama desert first spawn If only the achievements will motivate you, you will be done very quickly so don't get it if that's the case. Also it's totally separate from regular MP your rank and unlocks carry over to Onslaught but you can't earn score/unlocks/kills towards your stats in normal MP.

On the lag issue, fox is right it was all over EA forums that the mode is P2P so if we get lag we should keep changing hosts until it is gone for everyone . I didn't get any lag at all -- maybe since I was hosting some matches? I even played a round or two of Rush with Gismo while I was waiting for everyone to get Onslaught with zero lag (but we did get a crash to dashboard ) so am hopeful they finally fixed the lag in regular MP.

Thanks Lowgn. Doesn't sound like it's for me...
