Does anyone know if the new PS3 Slim will be able to passthrough our M2TS file containers with TrueHD and DTS-MA directly to our receiver now since the Slim does bitstreaming?

Can you get Windows Media Player 11 to work? if not for some odd reason the PS3 is not being seen over you network. I have an issue with my desktop becuase my wireless is junk and it just does not want to sync up but my laptop works great. Also keep in mind that if you start ps3ms and just X out of it it will continue to stay in your active tasks down below, make sure you quit all running apps for ps3ms this caused me a problem as well until I figured it out as simple as it was. Try to get Windows Media Player to sync up see if you can get that.

This is probably a dumb question but is it possible to stream an online source to the PS3 from my PC? I've streamed video from files off my PC but it would be cool to be able to play netflix online on my PC and then stream that to the PS3 so I could watch in the room with the big tv.

Great list! Thanks.

Anyone know of any way to play vc-1 video on the ps3? I know you can put it in wmv container but then you have to downgrade the audio to wma which sucks balls, im trying to stick with ac3..

Thanks! PlayOn works pretty well. Good for TV shows and other stuff that great quality of picture and sound is not needed.

I have just purchased a PS3. With that said I downloaded Playon.. Evidentally my laptop isn't powerfull enough to run it... What would I need to correctly run this?? What size Processor.. I see it say 2.8 Ghz but I can't see many of those without spending in the thousands... I need a new laptop anyways as mine is a Pentium M 1.6ghz IBM

^^ Just to give you an idea:

Im running this:

AMD X4 Phenom 965 BE (3.2 ghz) quad core
4 GB RAM
500 GB HD
Vista Premium 64-bit

Using DVD shrink and Handbrake. Handbrake takes about 40mins - 01h:30mins (depends on the movie) and uses all 4 cores (98-100%).

The better the CPU hardware you have, the faster the encoding. And the X4 phenom is now slower compared to the new i5 and i7 intel CPU thats around now.

anyone know when streaming MKV files with the PS3 does it do Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA?
Hey guys, have a question regarding PS3 Media Server and my Pioneer VSX-815 receiver.

Every now again I have been having issues where the sound is soft streaming an HD movie with PS3 media server I turn the volume to clearly hear the voices of the people and when there is an explosion the receiver ends up turning itself off. It briefly displays the word "OVERLOAD" and turns itself off. Now I realize this is to protect the speakers from getting blown out, but this is frustrating.

Do I just need a better receiver with Dynamix volume EQ? I was looking at the Denon 2310ci......thanks any tips, hints, advice, or explanation why this is happening would be great.

+2...did we ever get an answer on this? I replaced my PS3 60G for a slim recently...because I was hoping for less fan noise, upgraded whatever...and I actually made money on the switch. Then I see slim supports TrueHD and DTS-HD MA, which was always a point of contention (and one of the things that lead me not to use the PS3 much as a streamer) with my older model. So...it'll work with BDs, but will slim stream TrueHD and DTS-HD MA (from m2ts files btw)?

QUESTION!

I have a Mac and a PC. My mac is leopard and my PC is windows 7.

Is their an ideal way to share media with my 2 ps3's and stream as well?

Which program will allow both?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I haven't been able to get the slim to play TrueHD or DTS-HD MA from m2ts files. I end up using tsMuxeR GUI to demux the audio, then use eac3to GUI to convert the hi-def audio to LPCM, then mux back with the video using tsMuxeR GUI to create a new m2ts file. This works great and retains the lossless audio.

I recently installed tversity and it is working fine, but when I added g4 to the list neither the ps3 or xbox 360 can tell it is there. Youtube works o.k. and is located in the library under video/rss podcasts. G4 is in sources under media rss feeds and is not detected. What do I need to do to let the consoles see it?

Thanks!

Ugh...sounds exactly like why I went away from PS3 (and to PCH and now HTPC) as a streamer in the first place. I was just hoping the slim would pass TrueHD and DTS-HD from .m2ts now.

As I understand it, streaming from a PC requires that the PC does the decoding of video and audio. Therefore, one needs a powerful PC, especially for HD MKV.
Is there a way to stream the files as is and let the PS3 do the decoding? Will it work with MKV?

The lastest handbrake update removed the PS3 profile. Any chance of a PS3 from scratch tutorial (GUI, not commandline)?

Guys,
I am having a issue.. A while ago I tried playon as it was a free trial.. It really didn't work because of my computer spec plus my router so I deleted the Playon and Media server tab on my Ps3 "main page" I thought the media server tab was part of playon... Since then I have gotten a new computer and a Wireless N+ router.. I downloaded Playon again and Tversity but now my Ps3 won't pick anything up.. Can I get the media server tab back or am I screwed?? Any help will be greatly appreciate
