Manny's basement theater

Hello AVS members,

I'm new to this forum stuff but need some suggestions.
My HT is 23' x 24' with only 7'6" ceiling height. Not ideal theater size...
I thought I had just finished it but I'm upgrading equipment and screen.

I ordered last week my new SMX 140" 2.35 AT screen to replace my Elite screen. I just picked up Anthem D2v to replace Anthem AVM50.
Also picked up Anthem MCA20 & MCA50 to replace 7channel Marantz amp.

My question is all my equipment will be placed underneath screen in cabinets.
I'm planning on purchasing another JL f113 sub and place them behind the screen. Will the subs effect my equipment in anyway?

Nice v1.0 Manny. In what way do you think the subs might effect your gear? Also, did I miss a riser?

I keep thinking that the vibration might damaged devices and make the BD player skip... maybe I'm being crazy

I didn't build a riser due to I wanted a flush screen look and I don't think I have the headroom.

The bottom of the screen frame will be 18" off the carpet floor.
Also, on Monday I built a riser for the back row seating. I will post pics this weekend....
Thanks for the reply

Give us a little more information, please. And also take a look at how to post pics so we don't have to clip on them. (we're lazy here)

So far, it sounds like you have some great equipment.

I'm trying to figure out how to load them up. Some of my pics are stored on windows vista picture holder. I keep getting errors.

The room itself was finished about a month ago and redoing most of it little by little. My wife complains that I live in the basement, I tell her its a work in progress
Room was framed with 2x4 metal studs and QuietRok and both sides. Quietrok was 1 1/2" thick and a real pain to cut. Ceiling is 2x2 armstrong drop celing which I paint black. My first plan was to cover walls with GOM fabric walls bt I changes my mind and made panels 3rows high by 2rows wide.
The front of the theater has two closets which house all my dvds and blurays.

You have so much space you could do an equipment storage on the side wall with the door. Maybe a low-boy cabinet black finish with blacked out glass doors.

You have a classic looking space and you need something euro-modern to compliment.

You recommend moving my equipment to the side wall(right)
I was trying to keep the amps and processor close to the speakers(LCR) because of the long lenght of speaker wire. I justed picked up 3-10ft monster cable speaker wire. My first plan was to put equipment in the left front side closet but I would need 25ft cable....

Another mistake I made was the shape and size of the room. Frame it before I joined the great forum

Hi Manny,

Excuse me .... ah, Zeus is Greek. Maximus is Latin. Don't you mean Jupiter Maximus, or more correctly Jupiter Optimus Maximus?*

Nice large room.

*Six years of Latin, 0 years of Greek ... I had to say something.

I'm in South Jersey... Burlington.

Here are some pics. They're not the best quality. I'm currently going through a speaker upgrade at the moment going from (3) JBL E100's and (4) JBL E50's to a full line of actual commercial cinema speakers.

Because of the new speakers, I had to redo the whole front wall which is the reason why the room looks very unfinished. Walls are temporarily painted just so that we have use of the room while the upgrade is taking place.

The pic with my father-in-law was photoshopped using 2 separate pics from the same angle just to give you an idea of the screen size and detail. That is the actual image from the projector with the lights off.

Room is 13'W x 25'D x 7'7"H
Riser is 10'W x 5'D x 1'H

question? what is the prefered speaker cable to use? I've always like using the preterminated speaker cable ((MIT, Nordst,Monster REference).
Planning on my equpment to one of the side closets. L&R speaker are Monitor Gold 60s and center Areial Acoustic CC3. It cable would be around 20ft long...
suggestions

Try http://www.rtheaters.com/ . He's located in Marlboro, NJ and although I did not buy from him, he has the very best customer service.

Mine were ordered from someone out of state in South Carolina if I remember correctly.

As for the speaker cable, I just goto www.monoprice.com .

Here's a link for speaker cables from them:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...02&cp_id=10239

They have some of the best prices around. Just buy from them and terminate yourself saving you ALOT of money.
