2. If I have newer firmware, there will be no lip synch problem, regardless of how I have things connected.

Thank you!

1) Depends upon the reciever. If your reciever has hdmi 1.3 and auto lip sync capability then yes, no lip sync issues. (My denon has this.

2) 3.13.1 fixed lip sync although I occasionaly see odd broadcast issues that are not the TV's problem (TNT is notorious, and I see it some on my local digital -2 channel RTV on real old shows).

You may not see it at all with a satellite box. It was specific models of cable boxes and I'm not sure if satellite tv boxes were affected.

I bought a 47LH90 from American TV a couple of weeks ago. Overall I am happy with the tv but a coiuple of things annoy me.

This is the first tv I have owned where I can't set the color to a satisfactory level. The reds just don't seem quite right. Fleshtones tend to look orange even with the tint way towards the red side. I am doing my change sin USER mode since I don't have an accurate way to calibrate the expert modes. American TV says they have no one they work with or on staff that can calibrate a TV. The local guy says he charges $250 and it make look worse when he is done. Really? Wow.

American TV says all my problems will go away magically if I buy the $80 Monster HDMI cable they sell. I already have an HDMI cable. It's not the best but it is 1.3 version. Do you think the Monster cable will really help or is that bogus? Most of my tv viewing is through the Comcast dual tuner HD dvr.

Have you tried using the Picture Wizard? Most people report having good results after using this.
I have used the picture wizard and that got me in the ball park with most settings. However the tint was way off and the whites were overly saturated.

Apologies if I'm telling you something you've already tried. The Picture Wizard puts it's settings in Expert1. Are you trying your tweaks while using Expert1?

Have you tried the different user settings posted here? Try White Balance on Cool or Medium.
That explains why I hit menu last night and found I was in Expert1 instead of USER. Thanks for the tip I did not know that.

A waste of money. If you need cables (any kind) Monoprice is the place to go. Many of us use these and are very satisfied.

I just noticed that the owner's manual that comes on a CD with the 55LH90 includes a warning about not displaying static images for too long! And the warning specifically states both plasma AND LCD! They're saying 2 hours is the limit for displaying a static image on an LCD. As the kids say, "WTF"???
^ Image retention/burn in is highly unlikely with LCD. I wouldn't worry at all.

Lol. Completely bogus. As catmother said, monoprice has good cables. It either works or it doesn't. If something is wrong with the cables, you'd know. It will by no means have an effect on colors.

Take all the Settings and IRE Values found here, and transfer them up into Expert 1 and 2. Go back to THX(User) and try out your PQ now.

I unlocked THX to get the settings and then plugged them into the Expert modes. I upped the backlight and brightness a little, dialed down the color to 47, and changed the White Balance to Medium. I was happy with everything but Green. I ended up using the IRE settings you posted for flatlining Green on your November set. That worked for me!

I just purchased one of the last 55lh90's in our district from bestbuy. The picture is very good but i have a couple quick questions

I found the way to check the firmware in this thread but couldnt find what the latest version is?

Also i noticed a very very faint lip sync issue last night (on tnt) but it was through a simple 2.1channel bose system for my temp setup and when we muted that the tv speakers were fine. The connection to the bose system is just R/L rca out of the box. If the sync problem was present would it be on both internal speakers and any external device?

ive been playing with the picture and ive ended up getting too far off and resetting it, its in a dark basement so i figure ill dig through this thread to find the most similar config from someone else.

Edit:Im getting together some different settings from this thread and before i enter them, will the picture reset get rid of everything and get me back to factory? I dont want to permanently do somthing wrong.
Thanks

Please read the post above yours, for a fast, quick fix.

Have had 2 DVD alignment DVD's that I purchased a while back, sitting on my dresser for the last little bit. (Probably didn't know what to do with them at the time!) Decided to check them out today. One is called PixelProtector. On it are 3 programs to clean up your Pixels: Pixel Wash - Black and white, next Multiple Colours and lastly a Pure White screen. By the the time I got through the first 2 washes (2 to 3 hours each), the white was White, no tinges! Ran a movie after, the PQ was fantastic! So I now believe some of their advertising propaganda. (Unfortunately their spelling needs to be proof read again on their website.) It appears our pixels get lazy, over saturated or lose one or more of their colour capabilities. The washes can repair the major problems in 30 to 40% of the cases and almost 100% in minor problems. You might want to check it out. Might be available at a cheaper price on E-Bay than buying direct.

If anybody is in the market for this TV, circuitcity.com has it for 1999 and after bing cashback it will be 1700. There is a shipping fee though.

I have read alot of price talk about the 47 and 55 inch lh90's... i found a 42lh90 for 1029.00... Is that as low as a 42 can go? Should I pull the trigger?

I think were supposed to hold off price talk, but with that being said that seems like a pretty good price. Maybe take a look at the 47? i know the 55 is being offered at a very good price even at big box stores

Draw an imaginary L on the keyboard starting at 1 and ending at 8, 4 keys total.
Reverse the order to enter the code.

Gees catmother, we're both doing the same thing! Must be our old age creeping up on us. I have said in some of my Forum rants, Keyboard as well! Folks, what we both mean is, of course, an L on your Remote Keypad! Forgive us?

Has anyone noticed banding on their sets?

I'm noticing horizontal strips about 3in wide on light colored scenes during pans. It was fairly noticable during downhill skiing on the olympics when the camera would pan down following the action. I do not notice anything when the camera pans left or right, only up and down.

This is also noticable in video games such as flight combat games or shooters where you are free to move the camera anywhere.

Speaking of old, now remember experimenting with Slackware Linux (character based) downloaded from a BBS with a 300 baud modem.

Anyway, thanks for the correction.

OK, got me there - you must be older than I am? - but I can still tweak a mean 55LH90 despite not having your knowlege. (Then to, I think I'm little bit more on the lazy side!) Going to try finishing the Warm and Medium White Balance tonight.

My first computer was a 1987 Packard Bell XT compatible 9hz with 11hz turbo mode. It had 640k memory and a 40MB HD partitioned because that was too big for DOS 3, I think it was. I paid 2 grand for that monstrosity with its CGA monitor and a near letter quality 24 pin Panasonic dot matrix with the performated paper. I used that until 95 when I got a blazing 75hz Pentium. Yeeee haaaaaa. lol. The good old days. I remember an MD I worked with used my student discount to get an IBM AT that had the first version of Windows. I've had 3 desktops and 5 laptops since the Pentium. Cursed internet! lol

Speaking of Turbo Mode. My ex worked at a shrink's office and printed these reports every night. It would take for EVER. One day I am like, lets go, let me take a look. There is this big button with TURBO on it. I press it and the reports come flying off the printer. lol. Turbo mode. Fail.

Does anybody know why Just Scan (=Pixel perfect) does not work with 1920x1080x50p over HDMI?
