If you don't have the LipSync Problem, you're best to leave the FW Update alone. It messes with your sound! Only a LG Techie can update the FW and even then you have to prove to them you see a problem and can prove it.

Hey guys need some help. I just purchased a LG 55LH90 and got the Cisco RNG200 HD DVR from Comcast(Memphis, TN). I have an old Sony STR-DA2100ES receiver and a Sony RDR-VX500 DVD/VCR recorder. My question is I have the coaxial cable from wall going into Monster HT850 Power Center and then into the cable box. I then hooked the HDMI cable, from Comcast, and put it in the cable box and then plugged into tv(HDMI 1) and i get an LG screen saver thing saying no signal. I went to tv menu and selected HDMI 1, labled cable box, and still no signal. I went thru the auto channel setup and still no signal. I do have regular rca cables from digital audio out of cable box to receiver for better sound, would that matter? I am a newbie to all this so please be gentle and any help is appreciated. I posted this in the Cable/Sat section also. Thank you again if you can help me or point me in right direction.

Try Hooking up only the DVD Player's HDMI to the 55LH90 Panel's HDMI 2 and see if you get Video with that connection after switching to the HDMI 2 Input. Please note - The VCR does Not output through the HDMI. Got caught on that one with my daughter's combo unit. If no signal there, try going from the Combo unit to the Panel using the Red, White and Yellow RCA cable to the Panel's AV1 connection.

My DVD/VCR and my receiver has no hdmi connections. The main reason i want hdmi to work from cable box is to set picture to "just scan". I am getting a denon avr 1911 or 1611 soon and ordering the TechCraft HDMI Cables, but want to play with settings now in just scan mode. Thanks, anything else? P5browne what are the latest settings for your 55lh90, mine is March 2010 V3.18 I think your last ones were around page 38-42 on sttings thread. can i get the "total" setting and do you still post them in all(expert1,2 and THX)?

Well I got the cable to work, but Just Scan is still not selectable. What is wrong?

It is weird that it is not selectable. I wouldn't recommend using Just Scan, though, because there may be times where a white or green line or flashing is visible at the top or bottom of the screen. 16:9 seems to work best for cable or satellite.

Just Scan does seem to make a noticeable improvement with Dish Network picture quality, but I do not use it because of the above mentioned problems. When I switch from Just Scan to 16:9 with Dish, 16:9 looks like a zoomed in version that does not look as good. It was not a noticeable difference with Charter Cable.

My 55LH90 all of a sudden now has a stuck pixel . Only turns black and red, so on any other colors its very noticeable, especially white its horrible. Currently running a pixel exerciser on it to try to unstick it, also I have tried massaging the pixel a little whether that helps or not.

Is your warranty up? I can't remember if a stuck pixel is covered.

My warranty is still in effect, but I would be very surprised if 1 stuck pixel is covered.

I tried the search thread tool with no luck. Can we connect a laptop to the 55LH90 wirelessly? Is there something to buy to do so?

The TV doesn't have any wireless capability out of the box. There are a bunch of aftermarket solutions to connect a laptop to a TV wirelessly, whether your laptop has just VGA/headphones out or HDMI. I have no idea how well they work.

Pickup a LG 55LHX. Your laptop, like my desktop, plugs into the Media Box, which then transmits to the Panel. Added bonus, Fantastic Blacks and Colours, plus Non-reflective Matte Screen, wireless, and no BackLight LED spill overs in the Black Areas.

I was thinking something around $50 not $1700+

I doubt you'll find a wireless VGA or HDMI transceiver that can do 1080p (1920x1080) for $50. I think the bare minimum would be somewhere in the few hundred dollar range. There are cheaper ones if you only care to do something like 1280x720.

Or if you just want to stream certain types of video like MP4, AVI, etc... several companies make wireless network multimedia boxes for around $100-$200 as well.

I was wondering if anyone is experiencing issues with 1080p/24 resolution because when I try and watch anything in 1080p/24 certain scenes look like they are in slow motion. I have calibrated my tv with the info provided in this thread and can not figure out what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Could you provide a little more information? For instance: your source, your settings, what you tried, if anything, to fix it?
My source is comcast HD cable or a Oppo bluRay player to an Onkyo TX-NR5007. The comcast box is 1080i that gets up-converted to 1080p/24 which is then sent to my LH90. The Oppo is set to output 1080p/24 which is passed through the AVR for surround sound then sent to the LH90. The AVR does not alter the Oppo's video. All this is done via HDMI. I have the TV calibrated to p5browne settings listed earlier in this thread. I have fixed this by changing from 1080p/24 to 1080p at 60hz

I just bought this TV on Adorama, great price!
Can someone please recommend a good wall mount, preferably something from Monoprice?

My 47" mounts on a Monoprice PLB-14. It supports up to 160 lbs. I'm very satisfied.

Yeah I know. I just ordered one from them too! Should be here soon. Let's hope it works out well. Good luck with yours. Let us know how you like it.

Can someone confirm that this mount will work with 55LH90?

I specifically need an open back mount because I have preinstall a 2 Gang wall-box and an electrical outlet where the mount would sit.

That is the exact mount I'm using except mine doesn't have the tilt feature. I am sure that one will work fine for you.

Has anyone had issues with 1080p/24 because not only does the picture look like it's in slow motion but text seems to be shaking. Any help?

Probably does. I have a monoprice mount for my lh90. Works as advertised. It's a tilt, swivel and extends out and in.

No problems on either the 55LH90, nor the 55LHX. Try a different Blu-ray player, and, or check through your Blu-ray player setup menu, that something is not correctly setup.

Hello. I am trying to figure out something and hope I can receive some help. I have tried searching and not finding the answer, maybe not using right search terms. I have a March 2010 build 55LH90 ( http://www.lg.com/common/product/sup...tv-55LH90.jsp#) , SA Cisco RNG200 DVR( http://www.cisco.com/web/consumer/pr...specifications ), Denon AVR-1911 and near future PS3(Fat or Slim?). Is the LH90 1.4a compatible? I bought TechCraft 1.4a cables and the Denon supports it, have not tried to connect it yet. If the LH90 does not what would be the optimum cable hook up. Of course I am hoping for one HDMI from receiver to TV. Sorry if this has been discussed and sorry for being a noob who does not understand all this tech stuff. The manual for TV says " Simplink allows you to control and play other devices connected with HDMI cable without additional cables and settings. This TV may work with devices with HDMI-CEC support, but only devices with the Simplink logo are fully supported." Page 56. I know the Denon supports HDMI-CEC so does this mean it will only require one HDMI 1.4a cable from receiver? Does anyone have a similar or same setup?

Not 1.4 compatible, but I have 1.4 cables on all my equipment. Supposedly, I see a slight improvement of the PQ. Your other questions - have no answer.

Just an update...

Some may recall that I (along with alster and some others) had noticed that the LH90 isn't forwarding DD5.1 along the optical output as designed and stated in the manual.

I had called LG and had a tech out to look at it, but he was intent on swapping out the main-board, which I thought was ridiculous. In the end, I spoke with a support supervisor from the executive services department at LGE who, in turn, put me in touch with the most engineer-ish CS rep they have on-hand.

The last time I heard from Erika or Jared (The reps in order of appearance) was on 4/7/10 when they called two weeks after my original inquiry to let me know it was a design flaw and that they were looking at how to resolve it.

Well, Friday, I decided a month should be long enough to chew on it and called them back. Jared told me that he had been in touch with the factory to the engineers in charge and (though it sounds like they blew him off) they were going to have a meeting to resolve this. His own admission is that they aren't likely to make a firmware update at this stage, though he believes I could motivate them to do that with my powers of coercion and persuasion that he had thus far seen. More likely, is that they would send a tech to me with special instructions to use the service remote to change how the EDID works.

Obviously, this doesn't seem an attractive option, and I have others in mind than just myself. It isn't right that they should forget that everyone may not have the latest in AVR technology, and might need the optical-out still.

I will let you all know where this goes... but my original hopes are somewhat lessened, now.

I finally have an update, but you aren't going to like it any more than I do.

LG has been in touch with me for several months about the optical output issue. I have been told that part of the delay involves a complete lack of communication channels between LG-USA and LG-Korea. Also, I was told that they were using my exact hardware (BS) to re-create the situation and come up with a fix. I have been told that a new firmware is in development to address this particular issue, and that it would only apply to my TV (more BS).

Finally, I was told that they had a fix!!! According to them, I needed to be downgraded to a previous firmware (undisclosed version) on a USB drive, then have the service remote change some EDID. Not exactly what they said they were doing, but if they dropped the ball on this aspect of the Tv in the first place, I'm not exactly surprised to find them telling me one thing and doing something else.

Last Friday, a technician appeared at my door. He had the service remote and nothing else. He tried to follow the instructions (he had written down from an email, a real techie, this guy) for accessing the EDID screen, but couldn't find it. He called tech-support and a fellow named Mark told him I needed a new AVR. The fix had been performed and the receiver still didn't see the DD5.1 stream, so it must be on my end. Except that the tech didn't DO anything. He just looked at menus and exited them. He hung up with tech-support and explained that Dolby Digital is just hype, and I should be able to live without it. Yay! (Maybe i'll sell my 55" LCD in favor of a 19" black and white tube TV, since it's all just hype anyway)

I emailed the Customer service rep I had been in touch with all this time, then called him, and he was troubled that the technician didn't have a clue what to do. He said he sent explicit instructions and that it should be obvious what to do and how. He set up a repeat service call to the same tech with a new set of instructions to follow. Two days ago (Friday again), the same tech showed up with the same piece of paper he had from before and no USB stick. I asked him where the software update was, and he said, "Oh, the cigarette lighter? That's what I call those. That won't fix this. You need a new mainboard. Those customer support guys don't fix anything; their job is to make people happy." He proceeded to go into every screen he could with the service remote, but nothing was where his hand-written notes said they should be.

He called tech-support again, and the fellow on the other end told him he needed to replace the mainboard. He told me he would be happy to do it, but he knows that I don't want to. He said he'd just lay the TV down on the floor and take 30 or so screws out and pull the case and swap boards. Easy-peasy. Oh well that I've already had the TV calibrated... my loss. Oh well that I have tree kids and my carpet is the absolute last place my TV should be face-down.

He left it in my court. He says he know the firmware won't do anything. He is waiting for my phonecall to schedule service.

Final results
Time spent: 7 months
Reps on the phone: 3
Possible solutions proposed by LG : 4
Times I have been told what to want: 6
Number of channels passing to my AVR: 2
The only good thing to come from this: LG entended my warranty by another year (though in my state, I get 4 anyway). I also got the model number for the service remote in case I want to buy it on ebay.

Maybe I should argue that they purchase me a new AVR, or at least a switch to cycle between four optical sources.

This isn't over, for me.

As stated throughout this Forum, those that had the new FW update done, found a degrading of the sound. It sounds like you already have the New FW with the New problem, so they are trying to backtrack you to an older FW. This, for some people, caused Lip sync problems, but your other audio problem would now be taken care of. Part of the Problem with this is, sometimes some residual effects are left in place from the new FW, that will now cause problems with the backtracked FW. This is probably why they want to exchange the MB - to give you an older board and FW that has never been updated.
Some members found the Lip sync problem more than they could bear, others never saw it. Usually those using AVRs, didn't notice the problem, just those using the Internal Speakers. So if you are using an AVR, the older MB and FW may solve your problem.
