Did some searchs and read through quite a few, but can't seem to find my answer.

When I have no video coming to the TV, I can make changes to the video settings like turning TruMotion on High/Low/Off, then the settings changed to "Setting (user)". Once I connect video, it resets, and the TruMotion is greyed out. It's set to OFF all the time. Sometimes I want it on, but just can't seem to figure out how.

Sorry if this is a repost and already answered, my searches did not yield anything good answers. Thanks, all.

Enjoying the TV, but this little thing annoys me.

-Lacking TruMotion control-

WTF? What are you basing this opinion on?? Is this based on color accuracy? Explain

Never mind, I downloaded the manual and it indicates that TruMotion is OFF for "PC" input, so I just changed the input label to something else and it works fine. RTFM if all else fails.

Several Forum Members who did the FW update, all reported the same results - Deeper colour. Before the Update, couldn't remove the Milky Blacks I was getting no matter what tweaks I did! After, Milky Blacks gone!

Yep did firmware update myself to 3.13.1 and better color, big difference. Not sure why but I can tell the difference!

Don't know if you noticed it, but we now appear to have better off angle, and to a greater degree, PQ retention!

Did you do the firmware upgrade yourself or have a tech do it?

Did it myself. This FW applies to previous versions prior to 3.13.1. Requires a Service Remote to do.
You can do the upgrade without the service remote via the secret code as well

Hey guys,

Newbie here on AVS Forum, just now clued into this master thread on the LH90 series. I had posted a separate thread earlier, but this forum seems more appropriate for my question:

I bought my parents a Polk soundbar to hook up to their LG 47LH90 via optical out. After turning off the speakers on the TV, we have no audio on the HD channels. I think it's because the TV output is Dolby Digital for those, while PCM for the SD and non-HD cable channels. Is there any way to force PCM-output only, rather than Dolby Digital or any other mode, via the optical-out?

Appreciate any help!

I have LG 55LH90 + Denon AVR-1911 + PS3 Slim + Comcast cable box and just wondering if anyone has the same set up. I do not believe the cable box matters to much, just wondering what settings you have for each component for things to work together smoothly. I have the PS3 and cable box connected to Denon AVR-1911 with HDMI and HDMI from AVR to TV. I have not had time to read each thread dedicated to each component and all the components are fairly new( 3 months old max). Please share connections, settings and what remote control would be adequate to operate all components and their features. Thanks!!!

I have the original 60g PS3, 1911, 47lh90 and Motorola cable box...
Cable box--->1911 via hdmi
PS3--->LG via hdmi
PS3-->1911 via optical (you must tell the PS3 to use this in audio settings)
I did it this way because I notice a good bit of input lag during FPS when running the PS3 through the 1911. If you don't game much, then running the PS3-->1911 via hdmi will suit you just fine. IIRC you would also want to run the PS3 into the 1911 if you have a 7.1 system to get the full effect...mine is only 5.1.
The 1911 remote will control on/off, input switching and menu items on the LG. You use the bottom left buttons (they have red on them iirc) on the 1911 remote for power and inputs. To get into the LGs menus, you must first hit "tv" (you will get a blank screen) then menu on the remote.
It will not run the cable box (at least it didn't run mine)...iirc there was only one code for the Motorola, check it and see, you may have a Scientific Atlantic or something. Good luck!

My components are similar to yours:
LG55LH90+Denon AVR 790+ HTPC+Roku XD> All connected via HDMI to AVR>HDMI to LGTV. I do turn off scaling on the AVR.

Do yourself a favor, purchase a Harmony Remote. It will control all your devices perfectly. WAF will be very high.
Which Harmony do you have JDP?
I found fps laggy even with the scaling off. I like the scaling for the cablebox though...I don't use the "wide" setting though, it stretches the image too much.
I have an older one Harmony 670. Works great for my needs. And so simple to use, even my 2-year old figure it out.
You may need to purchase an additional adapter to control your PS3.
I hear people rave over the Harmony One.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm not a serious gamer so lag is not that noticeable or important, yet?!? I like the all HDMI setup now, if i get to that point i will sure remember your solution. Great help.

Racking brain here trying to figure out what "fps" stands for. Frames Per Second or something else.

Sorry, first person shooters. Games like Call of Duty, Fallout, etc. You will also notice lag on games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc.

No I am sorry. I'm 40 and trying to get back in to the "know" of technology and it is alot to learn. I lean more to sports and racing games, back in the day there were not much fsp's. I did love Mortal Kombat.

You won't notice it much on racing games...here's what you are looking for though if you want to test it out to see how sensitive you are to it. When you move the joystick to the left or the right in a fast motion, do you notice it doesn't respond on the screen as fast? If the answer is yes, try plugging the PS3 directly into the tv and see if it changes for you...it's real bad on the Wii, but the Wii works all on motion. You will also want to turn local dimming off (or just go to game mode) for games...the more processing the tv does the more input lag you will have.
Of course, some people (and games) are more sensitive to this than others, all depends on you. Check out Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe...pretty decent!

I second ChadB!!! $$$ well spent IMO!
Just had to put this in, there's been no input for a while!
Chroma5 Standard coming in shortly. Will see if it has more control over the 55LH90 than my Enhanced Version. Will also try out the ChromaPure new version as well at the same time. (Not available yet - watch for it!)

FW Updates come from your Local LG support techie - note, you will have to try and convince him you have a lip sync problem. Updated under warranty. Out of warranty, require Service Remote. File is 21.6 Meg

could someone familiar with this thread point me in a direction please? I have a 47lh90 I purchased about 15 months ago and it has the lip synch problem. I have learned to work around it somewhat by switching back and forth from hdmi to component but I would love to get a firmware update that would correct the issue.

The previous post makes no sense to me, what do I need to do to get the firmware update and apply it?

thanks,
Breeze

15 months later, do you have an extended warantee?
