HD-A2 HDMI Issue, Very Weird

Thread Starter
I'm having this weird problem with my HD-A2. It wouldn't pass audio or video over HDMI to my plasma TV when playing either HD DVD or regular DVD movies. However, it plays my home made DVDs without any issue. So looks like it's related to discs that are encrypted/copy protected. To make things even more confusing, I do hear audio on the TV (but no video) when HD movies from Universal Studios are being played.

Connecting the player over component works perfectly fine though. The only thing is it sends 480P with regular DVDs which is expected. And yes, my player has the latest firmware, version 4.0.

Is it possible that the HDMI signal is too low or noisy due to long cable or interference? But it had worked before with the same setup and it still works with unencrypted content.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The easiest starting point for me would be to purchase a new hdmi cable and give that a shot first.

Also try connecting it to a different TV that supports HDCP, could be a handshake issue.
