hey there. I am trying to decide on the following speakers as small surrounds

1)polk 101- $60 each

2)polk 6751- $45 each

3) hsu vt-254 (from ventrilliqust package) - $50 each

any opinons on which of these low cost options would be best as surround satillites

I had the Ventriloquist package before I upgraded and have no qualms in recommending it. Very good speaker for the price. I am still using the sub that came with the package and see no need at present to upgrade it.

would that satillite be fine to use as surrounds in my system. Do they connect regularly into the receiver, i thought they went to the center channel first or something?

What are the rest of your speakers?

You are going to be putting about one watt of power into them. Dont get too crazy about something like this. Matching your surrounds to your mains is not a bad idea but its not really necessary.

if it matters, my mains are energy c-200

Then why not go with Energy surrounds?

These will be mounted to the ceiling. The room extends into the kitchen, energy makes no speaker this small, if they do it is cheap

In that case have you considered any in-ceiling speakers, like the Mirage Omnicans? I've never heard them but they're regarded as being an excellent in-ceiling model due to the enclosed design.

how much do they cost, i am not really into in-ceiling speakers as i am going to be moving in about a year and dont want to cut holes into the ceiling

the only minus i can think of towards the hsu is that it doesnt look as good as the polk RM101.

I have no idea about the sound though. Keep in mind that the choosen speaker will be used as the height speakers in a IIz system
