Yes, it must be an SDV (Switched Digital Video) bonus. Unless I record both tuners on our 8300HDC (3.2), there is only a buffer on the primary, unless I keep PIP open, or display it every few minutes. I noted the 8300HDC
as I understand the HD boxes perform differently than the HDC (C
We had a 1 second power outage this morning, and after rebooting, the SDV fed 8300HDC had no feed - no audio or video, though the guide worked, while the non-SDV 8300 tuned and functioned normally. Except, at first, the 1/4 screen display for their non SDV channel, News 14. A call to TW confirmed an outage in our area - they didn't mention that it only effected SDV boxes.
Oddly, at least to me, was that the SDV outage also left the 8300HDC unable to playback recorded events on the show list. Playback menus worked, but no A/V came - just info bars etc. Perhaps this will get ironed out as SDV matures? I wonder if SDV boxes need active feeds to run playback functions, or was this a fluke?
Is there an SDV thread for further discussion?
