Keep in mind this audio problem only began when Turner went HD and began to broadcast in 5.1. There was no problem when it was only 2.0. In addition, I've read on line that subscribers to *e are now experiencing constant video freeze and pixilation, an issue that has not yet been raised in this forum.
So it might very well be that since converting to HD, TCM has been contending with problems on many a front and not just one.
With all due respect, I'm sorry that you don't believe what I've tried to explain, but it doesn't change the facts.
For example, TCM SD wasn't DD2.0, and isn't DD2.0. It's your HD STB that converts TCM SD 2 channel audio to a Dolby format, for consistent processing by end user audio equipment.
The aspect ratio issue is seen universally on TCM HD. After reviewing this topic, all the audio issue complaints are confined to Cablevision subs.
E* does not carry TCM HD.
I've been getting TCM HD for quite some time. It has no audio issues. None.
Again, if anyone, anywhere is getting TCM HD without audio issues, then all audio issues that end users have are with the provider. It would be pretty much impossible for a single provider or providers to have flawless audio while others have audio issues, and not have the provider(s) at fault.
If I were a CV sub, I'd be letting both CV & TCM know of my dissatisfaction.
