I wont say major, but there are several issues that they need to address (and fast...)

To all who leave feedback.... thank you in advance!

I'd like to comment in favor of the MediaStreamingStore. I recently purchased my Playon Mini from them. I was optimistic about the streamer and it did work very well. However, it was not compatible with my current YAMJ setup. I own a popcorn hour A-100 (very old!) and have spent a considerable amount of time setting up the YAMJ interface to my liking. Because (I thought) the Playon had standard YAMJ support, I went ahead and picked one up. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that the Standard YAMJ files cannot be read correctly by the Playon!HD. It will display all the cover art, but it will not play the movies via the YAMJ interface (index files were created by the standard YAMJ install, NOT the playonHD version of YAMJ). This meant that I couldn't have the popcorn hour and the Playon on the same network reading the same YAMJ created index files.

After discovering the incompatibility, I contacted Chris at the MediaStreamingStore and he issued an RMA without a hassle. Great customer service and a knowledgeable staff.

Sounds like a refurb A-110 is what you need. I bought 2 of them.

I would, but what I really want is a machine that has the ability to navigate through the YAMJ interface as quickly as possible. The PlayonHD did do this, but as I said, it was not compatible with standard YAMJ index files. I would like the refurb A-110, but i hear that it is not able to navigate through menus as quickly as the A-200. The price difference between the A-200 and A-110 refurb is worth it for me as I can get the A-200 with free shipping through Amazon and the A-110 is almost $20 for shipping.

Do you have the latest models with the revised Realtek chip, or an older model (which will not support pass through)?

I don't own a PlayOn HD but hopefully citrixguy or others can chime in. Funny enough though I own a newer Xtreamer Sidewinder (with the revised Realtek chip) and I got the same exact issue as you. When I installed the new fw that supposedly allows bitstreaming it didn't work, when I enabled pass through I got zero sound when an HD Audio track played, and if I switched to a 5.1 AC3 track I would get 2 channel. I just returned mine for a new one as it may be a defective unit

That is precisely, I will be doing! till dust settles! But would love a streamer to compliment my ps3 for missing file types, formats and high def audio pass through, that is stable/reliable like ps3 lol..keep me posted.

Dunes and C200 are too expensive for me at this point and WDTV LIVE lacks features!!

I have a number of ripped dvd's that I have saved as video_ts files. My POHD can play these files like a normal dvd, but I can't figure out what key on the remote I can use to take the ripped dvd back to its start menu. I only seem to be able to return to the POHD browser.

Does anyone know how to go back to the dvd menu?

Thanks.

So make sure your player of choice is capable, because it's not just a minor bug, unless you don't intend to watch 23.976 material, in which case it would be irrelevant to you.
I'm getting rid of my Playon!HD mini, which I otherwise like, for this reason.

I can understand his hesitation, but I think he and A.C. Ryan should come clean and let their customers know just if and when this problem will be solved!!

I have recently purchased acryan Playon!HD player (73100P+)

For watching online contents on TV via playonhd, I have also got a new wifi connection.

But I am unable to activate it on the player. Following is what I have done:

1 ) I went into setup>network
2) Selected wireless Lan setup >connection1
3) Infrastructure>Auto
4) Selected my wireless connection and input the WAP key.

Playon did some testing and again moved back to the network menu. Against wireless LAN setup, it is mentioned ' On: DHCP not Ready!'

When I am going to online radio feeds, it say, 'failed to download station'. Also I am unable to open in video feeds.

Please suggest what can be done....(seller has given me the xtreamer 11N wifi dongle, which he said is compatible with Playon players)

I also tried to manually configure the IP address, DNS and gateway. (now against wireless LAN setup, it shows 'ON: 'Ip address' . ( one thing I noted is that in manual setup, though IP address and gateway remain the same, but when I go and re-check the settings, DNS changes to default!)

But When I go to radio feeds, it says 'Downloading Stations' and after few seconds display message 'Download fails'

Similarly, I am unable to open NEWS rss feeds, weather etc.

Please advise....( I also tried r2901 hacked)

@Chris - Mediastreamingstore

Which player is more stable mini or big brother?
I currently own the ACR-PV73100 running r3875, and everything is flawless - USB - BD, DVD, MKV; shares; MM Playon-w-Hulu+, Plugins, it's all good.
I was considering the mini until I read the amazon review and other complaints at acryan.
One other thing I didn't check, if I upgrade to r3582, can I rollback to r3875, even if it requires wiping the HDD? Thanks

I own both and they both have worked exactly the same for me. I can't tell any difference other then the lack of the HD.

3582 is more buggy than 3875.

Thanks, it sounds like the problems people are having is with the new firmware.
From all I've read, the POHD with r3875 is the best choice for now. I'm happy with my Denon/BIC 5.1 components, and a media player that works beyond what I expected.

What does the Hard Drive do for you?

Choosing between the Mini and Regular.
Good question since the big brother creates 2 or 3 small partitions on the drive to perform various functions. I don't know if it uses the HDD and RAM for buffering, but maybe someone can explain the purpose and benefits of the hard drive partitions.

I Agree. They just released a new beta firmware...fixes something, but seems to break others. At this point i'm wondering if the new SDK is buggy

Hello Everyone!
I'm looking for a media player, in order to join my huge collection of 1.4Gb divx/xvid movies, 576p movies, some dvd isos and few 4Gb mkv movies. I read a lot of threads and finally I decided to choose between:

- Ac Ryan PlayOn Hd
- Mede8er Med500X
- Xtreamer (not PRO)

Can you help me to choose, please?
Who has the best interface?
Who is the most complete?
Who gets the most up to date (Firmware)?

And at last...do you think that perhaps it is better to wait the new Sony SMP-N100, the Asus O!Play HD2 or the Acer Revoview HD?
Thank you in advance.

PS...sorry for my english, but I'm from Italy.

hi,

I have acryan Playon!HD player (73100P+). I would like to watch online media contents (from sites like youtube, dailymotion , megavideo etc) on my TV via playon player.

Playon player firmware does not have any build-in media link. I have heard about UPnP software, through which I can stream contents on TV via player.

Please suggest which is the best UPnP software for playon!HD player, which can stream contents live, without downloading first to my PC and then streaming?

My main reason for purchasing this player, apart from watching movies through external HDD, was to watch movies and TV series online ( from countless free sites/blogs available on net).

Hope someone can help me streaming online contents on my TV, so that I can enjoy online movies and Tv series on my Tv instead of small computer screen.... (I have windows xp based PC and using acryan r4318 firmware)

Dear all,

I bought a mini over a month ago and updated to the latest firmware.

I had 2 mkv files at 1080p and probably 24 fps (I have other files too)

Played them both- sound was good (either DTS or DD). But- the screen is totally black!

From the display info button- the video is "unknown".

I tried watching with subtitles. I can see the subs displayed but the screen is black!

Can anyone advise me why is this so?

Thanks!

Sounds like the MKV files you are referring to could be the new variation of MKV with compressed header, encoded with MKVmerge / MKVToolnix. If it is, this is affecting all media players. AC Ryan has already released a beta firmware with a fix for it.

You can read more about it on the playon blog (go to the playonhd.com site, you'll see the blog in the news feed)

The beta firmware with the MKV compressed header fix can be found in the acryan.com/forums in the firmware board.
