Looking to install a 5.1 system in our living room and use in-wall speakers.
Was hoping to spend no more than $2,000 to $2,500 for the set up -- could spend up to $3,000 or $3,500, but the improvement would need to be compelling. Along the same line of thought, if I could spend $1,500-$2,000 and end up with a value system, that'd be acceptable too. To me it's less about absolute objective performance (after all, this is mostly a TV and movie watching room with lots of furniture and ambient noise) and more about "bang for the buck". Brands/Names are unimportant. From what I've read, having a complete enclosure (not an add-on) is also a requirement.
The room is large (22' x 27' and 20' tall).
Will be using an Onkyo TX-906 to drive them.
Primary material will be movie sound tracks and some pop, r&b, and classical music . . . but neither my wife or I are the type to sit down and "listen" to a disc beginning to end.
Thoughts? Recommendations? The other threads I've seen are about 18 months - 2 years old, so I wasn't sure if they were still valid.
Trident seemed to be a brand that got tossed out a lot. Still the case?
