How do I delete my Avatar?

I made a new account and realized you dont have to have an avatar. So I went back to my old account and deleted all the avatar information off my xbox but it still shows up . I'm assuming the info is stored on the live servers?

On the contrary, I believe you do have to have an avatar. The system won't let you have a Live account with none at all, even though you can just pick something at random if you don't want to customize it. When you sign in using an account which doesn't have one, you automatically begin the avatar creation process.

That's my understanding as well. You aren't forced to customize in anyway and can just click through the creation process but you must at least have one setup.

But you don't have to use it as your gamerpic if you don't want to.

Why the compulsive need to commit avataricide? You can just ignore it completely if you want.

Anyone else think the avatars are stupid? In spades or uno they're annoying. Is there a way to not see them? I'd rather the old way with just gamer pics.

No, you're the only one to think they're stupid. There also wasn't 40+ threads on it when the NXE was released and that horse wasn't beaten to death three times, gasoline poured on it, lit on fire, then buried in a landfill.

Nope I dont have an avatar on my new account. When the avatar creation process started up I just hit the big X to bring up the menu and hit y to go to dashboard and viola it exits and no avatar!! Now everytime I sign into xbox live when I boot the console up I have to do this but it only takes a second and it keeps me from puching my fist through the tv every time my avatar would pop up.

I didn't think they were annoying but I did think they were kind of useless unless you are a 5-10 year old... [OT] until I played 1 vs 100 this weekend. Now they have actually found a real purpose in a game. That game is a blast.

My 11 year old son and I tried to hop on it Saturday a little too late and it was full. He got on last night and then started yelling for me to help him answer questions. 10 minutes later the whole family was in the game room, shouting out answers and generally having a great time. The game looks very nice and polished, and the whole thing went off without any problems. I could see spending hours playing this with friends and family. It's is going to be a big hit. [/OT]

This seems like a lot of work to go to in order to avoid the one-time process of creating an avatar. I understand you may not be thrilled with avatars, but the people I know who don't like them make their avatar look as ridiculous as possible, rather than concoct elaborate work-arounds.

Perhaps you didn't read his reply. With the avatars, he was so angry he was putting his fist through TV's, undoubtedly spending tens of thousands of dollars on TV's, only to put his fist through them...one by one. Obviously the horror of seeing an avatar on the screen was digging at him, slowly corroding his very soul and digging away at his mental stability, day after day, week after week, until he snapped.

No doubt the avatars are directly responsible for most of the crime in the US. Or perhaps he just has anger issues and should think about counseling, since if a stupid cartoon avatar causes him that much grief, perhaps there is something else going on there. Like maybe a repressed memory of an evil avatar murdering his pappy or something.

My last avatar killed my dog and stole my girl.

But anyway that was obvioulsy an overeggateration (putting fist through screen). I could really care less about avatars either way. I was just curious if you could delete them entirely as I was kind of surprised microsoft didnt force you to have one.

There...I fixed the first part for ya.

As far as the second...They don't force you to have one but they make it a huge pain not to have one.

Well not really. It only takes 1.531 seconds to exit out of the avatar creator every time I boot up my console. Though I guess for some people that could be a huge pain.
