Tivo -> 4310 via HDMI
4310 -> Panasonic TV via HDMI
SlimPlayer -> 4310 via Optical Cable

While on the DVR setting I would like the picture to be outputed on the TV while music from the SlimPlayer plays.

Or

While on the CD Setting (that is the SlimPlayer) I would like the DVR picture to be outputed to the TV while the music plays.

From my reading this is possible if the video feed was non HDMI.

Thanks.

It appears with your setup you will have to run a separate video path (either component or composite) from the TiVO to your Panny. (Not sure if TiVo allows for two video outputs being active at the same time.)

Select the Slimplayer audio on the AVR (CD) and select the Panny input that has the video feed from your TiVO.

Not sure you have too many other options given your devices. I have Comcast cable and have split the cable so that I have many options on my 8G Kuro which has two tuners and many video inputs but with the 4310 upconverting sources to HDMI I have less paths now connected. I can select any audio source and still use the tuner to watch TV shows with no sound....

Yep, you'll have to run a separate video connection (preferably component) from your TIVO to your monitor and select that input on your monitor when you want to watch something and listen to a different source, hopefull your TIVO unit outputs more than HDMI at the same time.... sad but true

Can anyone report whether the latest firmware upgrades have addressed the compatibility issues with the Samsung 3600?
My sat box (HDMI 1) is currently accessed by pressing the SAT/CBL button on the remote. I would prefer to use the "TV" button on the remote.

In the Input Assign menu, for "TV" on the HDMI column, it displays "--" saying it's non-assignable.

Is it possible to assign HDMI 1 to the TV button on the remote?

no, you can't remap the names to different buttons on the remote. Just use the SAT/CBL button. Why do you care which button you press on the remote?

you are free to remap different HDMI inputs to different names however, so HDMI1 could be DVD, it could be VCR, it could be any video name. And you can also rename any input to make it say what you want (e.g. my HDP input says "Apple TV" and my DVD input says "Blu Ray" and my VCR input says "PS3" and so on...)

Set up new 4310 this week-end and really love the Internet Radio feature and Dynamic Volume Day mode is nice for channel surfing and switching back and forth bewteen games. Still struggling to get used to the remote but I am sure I will get there.

I was able to program the Denon remote to control my TV and DVD player but could not get it to work with my DirecTV HR20 DVR. I tried all the DirectTV codes three times without success. I then tried to manually have the remote control learn the commands and was still unsuccessful. Has anyone gotten the Denon remote to control the HR20? Also, if you have do you know what code you used?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, my family tends to press the button marked TV to watch TV, so it's just a bit simpler for them.

I already do the same thing with the other buttons (DVD remote button is actually a PS3 on HDMI2 and so on), I was mostly just wondering why "TV" is the only one whose HDMI input shows as non-assignable.

That's the $10,000 question that is so hard to answer. The Energys seem to be the warmest speaker around but whether you will like them is hard to say. Some internet direct companies offer free return shipping if you don't like them. TSC does that I think and probably others.

Aperion's are worth a look.... (and they have an in-home trial program...)

Anyone know if its possible to stream FLAC (or any media) to a 4310 via a DLNA server.... without gaps?

I am using Asset UPnP, which works very well (and Cidero UPnP a/v controller on my PC), but I am getting gaps between songs on albums that should be gapless. The media is file-per-track, not file-per-album... and I'd like to keep it that way!

Does anyone know if there are firmware upgrades or hardware fixes that only service centers can do? I had a problem a few years back with a different receiver from a different company with an HDMI colorspace bug, and the nearest service center would not take it because the serial # was not valid - I got it through an unauthorized dealer. I do not want that happening again. I realize the 4310 is user upgradeable via firmware updates, but are there any firmware/software updates users cannot do themselves? Have there been any bugs that require hardware exchanges? The reason I ask these questions is because I tried going through an authorized dealer online, and I had problems. They were the only authorized dealer with a price I was willing to pay. Again, any help greatly appreciated.

I have 4310 and can't get sound out from my tv. Can someone check out if you get sound out of TV?
I have a projector straight into the room and a TV on the left side so I just want to have surround sound when I use the projector.

Following up my own post in case anyone else sees this behavior. The problem was that I had HDMI control set to On. Once I turned that off, I was able to associate an HDMI input to TV again.

There are two ways to get HDMI Audio to the TV speakers via the AVR:

AVR (ON): Set HDMI Audio to TV vice default of AMP. HDMI Control must be set to OFF for this to work.

AVR (Standby): Set HDMI Control to ON and the Standby source to whatever HDMI jack you want to have the audio/video "passed through" the AVR to the TV.

I ordered one on Tuesday from Electronics Expo and got a very good price by Googling that company's name combined with Denon and coupon.

Unfortunately it hasn't shipped yet (even though it says "In Stock, Ships in 1-2 Business Days" right on the 4310 page). They "claim" it will ship today...

Does anyone know if there is a Remote Code for the 4310 that will work with the WDTV media players so that I don't have to go through Learning? Thanks.

Electronics Expo had a killer deal last month with coupon for just over $1290 shipped. This is the best I've seen from an authorized dealer.

That's what I did!!!!

Based on the horror stories in this thread of some having issues with their units only to find Denon would not honor the warranty when purchased via "un-authorized" sellers, it is now almost a "must" to ensure the warranty is valid.

We even went so far to use an American Express card to make the purchase and that will extend the warranty one additional year (but then you will have to make a claim via AE after repairs so be prepared to "float" the charges during the second year). We mentioned this to some friends having an issue with their past-warranty Sony XBR4 panel and they remembered that they had used their AE card and now will get the repair cost reimbursed.

So far, one month with the unit and it is performing great!

I just purchased AVR-4310CI, and now trying to it setup with 5.1 speakers. As soon as I truned on AVR it makes "swoosh" noise from the Front Left speaker while other speakers are quite. When I select different input sources AVR sends the right video to HDTV, however, the sound has no effect...only "swoosh" noise comes out from FL speaker. Master volume does not change this noise. Any idea on how to cure this issue...I have resetted microprocessor, updated firmware...problem still persists...

I didn't expect the sale to end so soon, and I was suspicious about the huge discount, so I've been reading and waiting. You win some, you lose some.

While watching HBO HD (Taken), there were 2 very brief video glitches during the movie that caused my 4310 to lose audio. The sound track was DD and in each instance, I found that switching channels and coming back to the movie, immediately restored the audio.

Since the movie was buffered on my FIOS DVR, I tried replaying the section where this occurred, but it did not repeat.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is this is an issue with the 4310?
considering that it didn't reoccur when you rewound the segment, you can chalk it up to a brief HDMI glitch... I doubt anything is wrong with the AVR.
Thanks batpig. I should have mentioned that immediately after these 2 glitches, the audio was gone even though the video was normal. The audio stayed gone until I switched back & forth to different channels.

I'm wondering if a different HDMI input would be better? I seemed to recall this was the case with either the 3310 or 2310 (don't recall which).

I've been running Aperions for some time now. Outstanding. CNET rates them highly. Free shipping both ways on in-home trial.
