I just replaced the network card on my unit and all is now well, other than the fact that I lost all my settings.

I seem to remember saving my settings in the Denon interface after it was originally setup (long ago), but I can't find an option in the Denon menu to restore it?

You have to use the web interface to restore the settings--instructions are in the manual. However, I have NEVER been able to restore settings, even after the NIC card was replaced and was functioning normally in every other way I could tell. Some people inspected the saved settings file and found it was full of zeroes, but I didn't have that problem. Still haven't solved it.

Hi all-

After living with a dead NIC for a year, I decided to order a replacement. The problem I'm having is actually ordering the replacement. The last 4 places I've tried order from all say it's been discontinued by Denon.

Anyone have any secrets on how to order this thing?

Have you tried calling all of the authorized parts distributors on Denon's website? MCM shows the card on backorder.

I called Denon directly in NJ and was able to order it over the phone. Here is the phone number for Denon parts Tel: 201-762-6391 (Parts) JT

I just got home from visiting family who has the 4310 and a problem that I would like to help them with.

The front two channels (the left/rights) lack bass.

I'm sure that they're set for "large".

We originally thought it was the amp internal to the 4310 and tried 2 external amps with the same results.

Did a processor reset and that didn't bring back the bass. Although this bass does appear on the side and back channels. Actually, diverted the side preamp out to an external amplifier then on to the front L/Rs and bass came back. So I'm sure its not the amplifiers or the speakers.

Could not determine if Denon has a firmware update for this problem.

Anyone seen this problem and if so, what was the solution.

Thanks in advance.

If they have a sub in their setup, the FL/FR speakers should be set as SMALL with 80hz crossovers.

No subwoofer and fully competant full range speakers. ....and yes, subwoofer is identified as "none"

When running Audyssey, it did correctly identify the front L/Rs as "large".

Then I would look towards an issue with the speakers. Connect to another AVR to confirm.

When using the side surround preamp out to the an external amp then onto the front speakers the bass returns. Post 5076 , 6th line down.
Sorry, misread your post. If only using a 5.0 setup, then try connecting the FL/FR speakers to the Surr Back/Amp Assign speaker posts with Amp Assign set to "Bi-amp" otherwise, the unit likely needs to be repaired.

Just wanted to thank you guys for your advice and help w/4310 and
Sony KDL-32XBR9 issues. The AVR is on it's way to Panurgy NJ and
they will update to latest firmware along with dealing with HD Radio &
NIC card. Taking Sony TV to BB Geek Squad and they can update firmware
in the store (have extended service plan). Hoping for a good outcome on both
fronts. Thanks again for everyone's replies to my previous posts. smile.gif

Remember to follow up with Panurgy to ensure the firmware gets updated as they've been known to return a unit forgetting to update the firmware.

I'm waiting to get the serial number for my father in law's 4310 to see if it has any firmware updates available. Denon's support page requires the serial number to access updates so I can't get there yet.

Can someone who has had the 4310 since release tell me what all has been updated? I want to see if it even applies to the issue he is having with his.
@JimP thought of something to suggest for your father in law's 4310
Go to Manual Setup then select Audio Setup...now select "2ch Direct/Stereo"...
Is this setting on "Basic" or "Custom"?
If it's on "Basic" then the speaker sizes, crossovers, distance, sub off/on that Audyssey
selected apply here also, and nothing can be edited/changed here...
If by chance this is set to "Custom" it could possibly be causing lack of bass
in the FR FL speakers (at least when in stereo "surround mode")...
Try switching setting to "Basic" or if in "Custom" confirm that Front is set
to "Large", subwoofer "OFF"....Custom overrides settings in the Speaker Setup
menu that Audyssey makes during auto setup.
You may have already checked this and/or know about it so this may be of no assistance.
AFAIK there have been no firmware updates for this issue...

Thanks jd for the heads up on this, I did call PanurgyOEM before shipping and was assured unit
would be "updated to the latest and greatest firmware" by the gentleman who answered the phone.
It took a couple of attempts to get a real person on the line there and once encountered a full voice mail
box as well...person I eventually talked to was helpful and seemed knowledgable...
Anyway, I'm tracking unit's progress getting there, will take your advice and call them
once it gets there (Fri) to remind them to update firmware. Thx again smile.gif

I'll check this when I go over there next week.

Thanks

Got my 4310 back from Denon/PanurgyOEM this AM via FedEx.
They DID replace the NIC along with the HD FM Radio tuner....
no "motorboating" so far, keeping my fingers crossed.
I did call them several times to remind them to update the firmware,
they assured me they would, haven't checked that yet...
Thanks to all of you (especially jd, zcondo, SoM, Splicer010, Pbarach,
and Redbeemer)who helped me and gave advice with my situation.

How long did it take from when you shipped the unit to when you received it?
I shipped it Oct.10th and it arrived this morning...about a month.
Not too bad but might have been faster except for some confusion
on their end about my unit. A Denon online support person filled out
the SRA entry form for me and apparently only mentioned Internet radio
issues...so they came VERY close to shipping the unit back to me without
replacing the HD FM tuner 2 Fridays ago...I was very lucky in that I just
happened to call on that day and after the Panurgy employee called the
Denon online support guy in Mahwah who initially handled the claim, they
literally pulled my 4310 off the truck and assured me the "motorboat" FM
issue would be taken care of and they would order the part. Said it would
take about 3 days...ended up taking a little longer, I think the Sandy hurricane
& storm may have been a factor.

Thanks, good info to have. I'm about to send mine in before the 2 year warranty is up. Did they send it back in a Denon box? I no longer have mine so I guess I'll just have UPS box it up.
I had my original box but I was near the end of my warranty too, so the box
had some "age" on it. Styrofoam was just marginally OK. A FedEx/Kinkos
store helped me make my original box better with some bubblewrap and I
reinforced it with some duct tape.
Panurgy shipped it back it THEIR box, not real "heavy" cardboard but the
2 mounts inside were NOT styrofoam, nice solid material. AVR was
wrapped in heavy duty clear plastic with some tape. No bubblewrap or
pellets inside though. OK, not great...but it seems to have survived (so far)
Good luck with your unit, what issues do you have?
The NIC card is not working. I can't get an IP address and I have intermittent issues with HDMI switching.
Send it in now if you want it for the holidays. Best check with conditions since the hurricane tho.
Ok, so we had a power surge and now having issue with receiver. If I turn it on from remote I get no video or audio, but if I power from front of unit I get audio and video. This works until I select a different source then the screen goes black and no audio the only fix is to cycle power using the front button on the unit. I have to cycle power from the unit to after changing to another source to get audio and video. Any thoughts?

And then get a power conditioner/surge protector to avoid these things in the future.cool.gif

It WAS......Connected through a Monster 3600.smile.gif

I have tried all resets, deep, microprocessor. It seems to be something with the network card. I use iRule for a remote and can not connect even though it says it as the IP, but I can not set any network setting in the Denon menu.
Once I did the deep reset (up/down and power) I have video now and will change when I change source using a harmony remote, but if I use the source button and the denon remote it goes back to the blank screen, weird confused.gif

Has the original NIC ever been replaced?
I have a 4310 that when I select FM Radio I get nothing, I can't get any sound to come out no matter what channel I chose, is this a typical issue with this receiver?
any tips on what to check?
