Home theater question

Hello,
What would be the best option to go with. HTIB or buy speakers, sub, and receiver separate? I am looking for something with an I-Pod dock, 7.1 surround, with multiple hdmi ports, small speakers with power at an reasonable price. I was looking into the ONKYO HT-S7100 7.1CH Home Theater System W/iPod Dock.

Thanks

What are the dimensions of your room? Is 7.1 really necessary? Many movies don't take full advantage of 7.1, including Blu-Ray movies. There are many 5.1 systems that sound really great.

ill bite
onkyo 507
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR507...4263609&sr=8-1

has 4 hdmi ports
$344

energy take classic 5.0 system
good sounding speakers and still small
http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Take-Cl.../dp/B0021L9BME
$199

elemental design a2-300
a 12 inch sub with a 200 watt amp
$350

ok so right now im at $900 vs the htib $800 but already this system will sound leaps and bounds better than the htib ,if you want to use the rest of the $1200 budget i suggest an onkyo 607, or an ed a3-300 sub, i did forget the ipod dock but thats up to u. i use an apple tv for my music or a 3.5 mm cord for others.

I was going to suggest something similar, but for the receiver I was going to suggest the BIC Acoustech H100 Sub ($280) and the Pioneer VSX-819H ($250) for the receiver because of the iPod port with on-screen display that he requested. The Pioneer just came out last month, so there aren't any reviews yet, but I think the initial take has been very positive.

I agree that these will sound better than the majority of the HTIB out there, although Onkyo probably makes the best HTIB.
