While I find the franchise solid and enjoy them, they're a bit too arcade like for my taste. While everyone was enjoying Call of Duty 4 and World at War, I was enjoying games like Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway.
I'm content waiting to get them cheap. I've enjoyed COD2 on the 360, COD Finest Hour and COD2 Big Red One on the PS2, and have COD3 on the 360 waiting for time to play one of these days. By then Call of Duty 4 and World at War on the 360 and PS2 (Different games I hear, like what was done with previous Call of Duty's before COD3) should all be $20. And by the time I get around to playing those, Modern Warfare 2 should be $20, lol.
If it helps the Call of Duty fans any to realize I don't hate the franchise, I'll be buying Call of Duty day 1 on XBLA (And hoping the expansion see's a release as DLC) since I always wanted to play them but never got around to buying these previousily PC exclusive titles.
I've did the same thing with Halo, another series I enjoy but never quite saw what made it so special in the eyes of many, especially after enjoying things like Half-Life and many other first person shooters before playing it. Have Halo 1 & 2 but waiting for 3 to get down to $20 and will buy all these other Halo games when they're cheap someday.
I think its mostly that while I don't mind gamepads for single player portions of first person shooters, I prefer the keyboard/mouse for the higher pace nature of online multiplayer so that aspect of them tends to not be a big selling point to me. So its easy to wait since the single player aspect of them isn't worthy of $60 (And is ignored by many, probably including a few of you that posted in here).
