Where did you find the cost? I know they'll be junk...just curious to know how much they are charging for it.

*nevermind I found it*

I'll get Call of Duty 4, the WWII sequel on PS2 and 360 (Since they're different games), and Call of Duty 4 part 2 when they all get cheap.

Really, you never got COD4? I think you were one of the only ones never to own it

Personally, I love games that do this. As long as they do them right.

IW and Treyk did it wrong, because the damn AI was not scalable and was very, very poor AI. That lead to frustration and incredible cheapness at the harder difficulties, while it being a easy cakewalk on normal with a pseudo-simulated "push back the front lines" style game play.

If the AI was better, it could have felt like moving up the beach in Saving Private Ryan, or pushing your way through resistance in a middle eastern city. Instead a guy with a heavy MG would headshot snipe you as he spawned from 1000 yards away.

Sweet Looks like a purchase for me, maybe even the steel book edition.

While I find the franchise solid and enjoy them, they're a bit too arcade like for my taste. While everyone was enjoying Call of Duty 4 and World at War, I was enjoying games like Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway.

I'm content waiting to get them cheap. I've enjoyed COD2 on the 360, COD Finest Hour and COD2 Big Red One on the PS2, and have COD3 on the 360 waiting for time to play one of these days. By then Call of Duty 4 and World at War on the 360 and PS2 (Different games I hear, like what was done with previous Call of Duty's before COD3) should all be $20. And by the time I get around to playing those, Modern Warfare 2 should be $20, lol.

If it helps the Call of Duty fans any to realize I don't hate the franchise, I'll be buying Call of Duty day 1 on XBLA (And hoping the expansion see's a release as DLC) since I always wanted to play them but never got around to buying these previousily PC exclusive titles.

I've did the same thing with Halo, another series I enjoy but never quite saw what made it so special in the eyes of many, especially after enjoying things like Half-Life and many other first person shooters before playing it. Have Halo 1 & 2 but waiting for 3 to get down to $20 and will buy all these other Halo games when they're cheap someday.

I think its mostly that while I don't mind gamepads for single player portions of first person shooters, I prefer the keyboard/mouse for the higher pace nature of online multiplayer so that aspect of them tends to not be a big selling point to me. So its easy to wait since the single player aspect of them isn't worthy of $60 (And is ignored by many, probably including a few of you that posted in here).

I think you would be surprised if you'd throw out the change for COD4. It is totally different than anything else they've put out in the franchise IMO. I have several games but it's the only one that seems to be constantly in my PS3. I have two systems and me and my wife play online together all the time. It beats the heck out of World At War for online play...the best I've ever played, seriously. And it took a lot to take Golden Eye for N64 out of the top! lol

it was written well, and presented very well. I did like it. But the best SP ever it was not. It had the same issue all COD games have, far too scripted actions, endless spawning baddies, dumb ai, and what seems to be a far too common thing these days - a very short campaign.
it was fun though, just not fun on insane.

HL2 was the best single player ever..
HL1 was the best single player ever but HL2 was close. They lived up to the hype and that was almost an impossible feat.

COD MW was a great game and I enjoyed the single player but that wasn't what makes it a must buy. Its the multiplayer that makes it such a worthy purchase.
If they added environment destruction this would be the best game ever, until then... bleh

All those things were addressed and fixed in this new MW:2

But what was happening in the level we were shown from the new game was different, the IW guys explained. Absent from that level and from the game are the infinite enemy spawn points that were criticized in Modern Warfare. Bowling said the new game's enemies have "dynamic AI," meaning that they are designed to act more independently of what the designers map out. He said a player could expect them to be more sensitive to gamer behavior, going beyond the flanking and cover strategies of the enemies in the first game to break their patrol routes, or take to roofs. They're smarter. And they will adapt enough that a Modern Warfare 2 player won't be able to rely on the enemies being in the same places and doing the same things each time they play a level.

Not noted in this article but in others on the web is where they directly address the lengthening on the game beyond the 6-10hr game play that the original MW had.

Not for me. I bought Orange Box for all the hype but to be honest it bored me to death. I got the gravity gun and it was fun for like 5 minutes. Still haven't beaten the game and I have no desire to.

don't really care; killzone 2 > call of duty. and i'm more interested in mag than mw2 at this point.

Agreed, possibly the most overrated game I've come across yet. Bland environments, simplistic combat, no atmosphere whatsoever. I'm trying to force my way through it, but I don't know if it's worth it. I know it's an old game, but this is one game I just don't get.
Orange box isn't Half life 2. Episode 2 is an add on for half life 2. There is also a half life 2 episode 1 (although it kind of sucks). I think hes talking about straight up half life 2 before the add ons. I know I was.
Half Life 2 is Orange Box. The full game is included, plus the two episodic sequels that continue the story from where Half-Life 2 left off, plus the puzzle game Portal and the online multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 (A sequel to the popular TFC game usually bundled with Half-Life 1 on PC's).

I think the entire Half-Life story is my favorite first person shooter series (HL1, Decay, Uplink, Blue Shift, Opposing Forces, HL2, Episode 1, Episode 2, and Lost Coast), I've loved and enjoyed everything from my favorite which was the first game to even the free demos Uplink and Lost Coast with their unique stuff.

Are there any US troops in the game? It seems that all of the videos that ive seen are all British SAS

I partially agree with you here. I played about 2/3 of the way through HL2 when it was released, then got stuck at a part, and didn't pick up the game and finish it for about two more years. If I remember correctly, I became either bored or frustrated and stopped playing HL1 halfway through. The story and puzzles are very good for a FPS, but the combat feels a bit awkward and primitive compared to most current FPS. Overall, I liked Episodes 1 and 2 as well, but I can see how someone would be bored by the game.

Well, HL1 is pretty old.

Indeed, but still one of the best plots around. Not sure when it's out, but if you have HL2 on your PC, wait and keep an eye out for http://www.blackmesasource.com/

I'm near preorder!
Question though, how was the COD1 single player campaign? I'm deciding which edition of MW2 to preorder, because on Amazon now you get a $10 coupon for preordering. The hardened edition comes with COD1, but I'm hesitant to get it because the box looks too big to fit on my shelf. If COD1 was good though, I'll deal with it and get the hardened one.

COD1 was good. I don't know how well it has aged, but I liked it a lot when it first came out.

I'm comparing the combat of the HL games to their contemporaries. I remember Quake II had more fluid gameplay than HL1, and quite a few games back in 04 and 05 had more fluid gameplay than HL2. Like I said before, the plots of both HL games were very strong, but I don't think the games were flawless.

no games are flawless, but if you took all the aspects that make a game great, gameplay, story, physics, etc... the HL games did the best job IMO. I have never been drawn into a FPS single player game like HL before and since then. i also love the the cut scenes were just part of the story, you could move around, etc....

You're right, nothing great at all about that game.
