They can solve it very easily if they went with dedicated servers and not P2P. They just dont want to spend the money on servers

No argument here....

A little, but they are pretty inexpensive to maintain, especially since this is a PC game ported to the consoles and they already have a version of them running on PC's.

In fact, it be just as easy to release the dedicated server stuff for a Linux box, and let PS3 people host their own dedicated servers. Lag would be a thing for the past, and they could get rid of this P2P party nonsense.

Why they haven't caught on, who knows.

I'm still super psyched about the SP campaign. The multi player we'll have to wait and see, for now I'm enjoying the hell out of KZ2 (too bad the SP was just ok). Just to remind everyone how dope Modern Warfare 1 was, and to get you pumped up about MW2:

Still can't wait.

Yes. The PS3 version of #MW2 will have trophies and rumble support and we even have some dynamic themes in the works for the PS3 XMB

The trophy support is a no-brainer considering every game that has been released in 2009 had to have trophies in them. It'll be interesting to see what type of dynamic themes they'll have and whether or not they'll come as part of the game or a separate purchase via the PS Store.
They will definitely be a separate purchase.
Well yeah I posted it for the dynamic themes.
No way they would give the themes away for free. They want to make as much $ as possible.

I preordered my copy at gamestop, and there was some ghey count down clock on the counter, keeping attract of the amount of time till release. I am still playing KZ2 so the wait has been pretty easy...
While it is a day one purchase for me is not like there arent any other games to play until its launched. So its night like I need Jays count down clock ticking away the seconds for me until its released
post #103 of 766
No plans to get MW2.
To get back on topic, it probably won't surprise you that my opinion of COD MW2 is as usual 100% different than yours. (Tyrant.) It's the one game I've probably been looking forward to the most this year. One, because I have this unfortunate COD4 addiction, and 2, because COD4 makes me wanna barf now, and I need something different! Even if it's just a little different. So yeah, I can't wait for this game to come out.

Day one purchase for me.

Looking forward to the single player campaign. It may be short, but at least you don't have to deal with all crap of the multiplayer to get a good game experience.

Having said that, I'll still end up playing MW2's multiplayer (MW Gold Level 55 WITHOUT CHEATING, which is sad that you have to point that out in this day and age), but I'm no fan of Demonware or whatever software they use to connect players. I'm hoping that they've done MAJOR improvements (not just Host Migration) to the code, but somehow I doubt it.
pretty cool, but the flagrunner video is obviously from a pc, using a mouse to aim.

you cant use a mouse and kb on the ps3 can you?
I can't wait for this to come out. I just got a ps3 and have not played any previous cod games, but watching the videos I am very excited for this game to come out. I have been playing tons of Killzone 2 though to get me ready for this!

Sorry but if you are used to the way KZ2 controls MW2 probably wont do it for you then. But if you are a fan of auto aim and twitchy shooters you might just like it.

Not bitter, just realistic. MW moves at 60 fps, feels right, and has a good selection on weapons. It is a fun game that has a short (but intense) single player component. Even multiplayer is fun when you get a balanced set of players and when people don't glitch/cheat.

BUT . . . I don't like the way the multiplayer code has been implemented. Simple as that. I don't know if it is "Demonware" code, IW, or a combination of both. Two years is a long time, but is it long enough to fix the problems that I want fixed--Host Migration, stable (non-lagging) games, glitchers/cheaters booted and/or eliminated, mute all (in-game/lobbies), etc.???? Don't know, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

But . . . you aren't buying the game, are you? So what do you care

I bet he'd like dark sector, then... I heard it's like gears/RE4.

Aside from the obvious, I will likely get into the cod series this time, but per the question of if I can wait - have you seen the October release schedule? Add to the fact that mw2 comes in mid November, I can most certainly wait!

Oh, my mistake. I thought all 3rd person shooters would be the same. Maybe I should rent cod4 and make sure I like it before getting this then. Thanks for the info.

COD and KZ are FIRST person shooters. If you want 3rd person shooers then maybe Warhawk or Uncharted is more to your liking. Theres supposedly a sequal to WH called SpaceHawk coming out sometime in the future. Also theres a beta for the new Uncharted you can DL at the PSN store to try and see if you like it.

Sorry for all the "new guy" type questions...but what is the difference between 1st and 3rd person shooters? Are all COD games 1st person? I tried the demo of the warhawk game. Fun game and I might pick it up...

FPS is the first-person point of view. You're playing the game as if you, yourself, are the character. See games like MAG, CoD series, Killzone series (except PSP), Battlefield series, just to name a few.

TPS is the third person point of view. You can actually see your character in some way, shape or form whether it be the back or over the shoulder. For example, you mentioned you tried Warhawk, you can see the character that you're controlling thus making it a third person point of view.

So far, all COD games are FPS's.

Thanks for all the info guys! I'll probably still pick this up and hope I like first person shooters. The videos are amazing (although, all the videos for the ps3 are pretty amazing!).

Any word on if MW2 is actually going to render at HD resolutions? 720p would be nice. I know that 1080p is dreaming...
I believe 600p is confirmed, sorry.
