Are you sure the SC-05 and SC-07 handled DSD that way? Are you sure they didn't have both options (most receivers that can do straight DSD decoding also offer DSD --> PCM as well)?
Using Pure Direct, the SC-09/LX90 processes DSD directly to analog - no PCM conversion in between. And no DSD > PCM indicator
Also, no bass management since digital processing is turned off.
In Direct & Auto Surround, DSD is converted to PCM 1st, because digital processing is applied. And the DSD > PCM indication is on.
Just thought I'd clear that up since you made a reference to the 09. It most definitely can process DSD directly.
