There hasn't been much talk about this movie but it currently has a 100% early rating on rottentomatoes.

I saw a trailer a few months back and it looks like it could be a very good sci-fi movie.

I think it has a limited release on June 12th. A movie that might not catch your eye in the listings.

I hadn't even heard of this one. Certainly looks interesting.

As a reviewer on RT stated - “What is better than a film starring Sam Rockwell? How about a film starring two Sam Rockwells!”

Couldn’t agree more.

Looks good. Will BD it when it's released. Trailer here.

it does look awesome. Like Cast Away in space.

This looks like it could be a great film. Unfortunately, I can't find anywhere in the Dallas area where it is playing.

Very intriguing, but derivative.
Solaris anyone?

Hmm... I didn't get that at all from the trailer. But not having seen the actual film itself, it's hard to say.

It's not playing in the Boston area yet either. Hoping it makes it's way out here though.

Let's hope not!

I read a little bit about Moon. Looks interesting, sort of like Silent Running.

85% Rottentomatoes

Has anyone seen this? It's in fairly limited release (I guess it's considered an "art film"). I'd like to get opinions because I'd have to go a bit out of my way to catch it.

It wasn't playing around here last week when it opened.

It's playing in Cambridge and Waltham now, and hopefully lasts longer then just this week. Going to be tough for me to make it prior to Friday.

I saw it Saturday at the Laemmle Town Center in Encino, which is definitely an art house theater (they often show Persian films without subtitles there.) I liked Moon a lot.

It's kind of a slow moving film, but it rewards patience, and the performances are good (well, it's mostly Rockwell, but a few other people are on viewscreens and Spacey's voice is heard a lot.) Reminds me a lot of Silent Running from the 70s.

AVOID SPOILERS! Don't read reviews! Apparently some critics who think they are more important than you or I are spilling the beans on this flicks, beans meant to be spilled while viewing the film.

I am avoiding all spoilers, reviews, etc until I can see this at home. It won't be playing at any theater near me this summer, that's for sure.
Oops! You know, I forgot I even posted something about it in a different thread?
Thanks for the heads up Matt. I too watched one trailer and have decided to avoid any others or any reviews. Really looking forward to viewing this (at home)

This one also seems reminiscent of the old Gregory Peck/Gene Hackman flick, Marooned. (Hopefully they'll put out a Blu-Ray of this one, soon).

Even though I live in the NY area I'm still waiting to see this movie. I can't wait to see it but it's $20 LIRR train ticket plus the $25 it will cost to see the movie along with my girlfriend. I have to plan out more stuff to do so that I don't feel as though I'm shelling out $50 (plus food, subway) just to see this movie.

It is getting a bigger release by July 10th with something like 45 cities having the film by that point.

I ended up seeing this last night. I have to say it was well worth the trip.

It's been quite a long time since we've had a really good story driven sci-fi movie, and this one delivered perfectly. I can't imagine anyone other then Sam Rockwell in the role, the musical score was great, and Duncan Jones really put together a tremendous story. While the VFX were somewhat poor, the great thing about them was that it didn't detract from the movie at all. I felt like I was watching an old sci-fi movie and had no need for the slick CGI found in today's films.

A poster above said it was a little slow, but that really was the nature of the movie. It was all about discovery, and I thought the pacing was just about perfect.

Had this movie been made in the 70's (and it has the look for it), it would have been an instant classic that we'd still be talking about today.

I have to give it a solid 9.5/10.

I highly recommend you go see it if it's playing around you (and make sure you AVOID the spoilers!!!).

I certainly put this on my viewing list.

Moviefone - Enter your zip code, select distance.

I saw this, this morning. It started today in one of the arthouse type theaters here in Dallas. I recommend it. I would think that if you liked the pacing in such films as 2001, then you will be fine with this movie. No boogie man, or ghost as in other so called 'science fiction' movies. Pretty much straight forward, almost 60's styled Sci-Fi.
Superb picture. A virtually flawless creation of a world, in the league of 2001, Blade Runner and Children of Men.

Cons:
a really ugly film stock. If they try to smooth this out for high-def it won't be pretty
rather spoilerable. As Matt says, try not to learn much about this one
the miniatures do look like miniatures. Not impossible to overcome, but it's there
a bit on the slow side

Pros:
excellent performances in the tiny cast
fine music and use of existing music
excellent script
as mentioned, exemplary production design
it's emotionally moving too

This is an instant classic. Don't miss it.

Thanks ! Looks like Memphis is the closest. Something of a hike to see a movie.

Art, it's not playing in Memphis, that's just my zip code that was entered. You have to select change location and enter you zip code. The closest it's playing to Memphis is Huntsville, AL.
Checked the official site. This one won't be playing anywhere near me. Not even close. So I am forced to wait for the BD.

That's not too far from me (North MS), but I doubt I'll get a chance to get away, just for a movie. Too bad, because I'd like to see it.

I did that but it must have defaulted back to yours.
