Audio on ATI x1200 through HDMI is bugged, what can I do?

My HTPC has a build in ATI x1200 graphics card with a HDMI output. I have used it in the past perfectly to connect to my Pioneer plasma, but it has only worked perfectly in XP.

I tried Vista a year ago or so but went back to XP after I ran into the problem.

The audio plays through the HDMI connection but stops for a second... every 2-3 seconds of playback. I spent so much time trying to debug it then that I gave up. Tried every possible Realtek driver I could get my hands on.

Now I installed Win7 RC and I'm having the same problems.

I installed Catalyst 9.1 (funny that they work but the latest drivers dont have a x1200 driver anymore)
Installed the Realtek audio drivers from Realtek along with their ATI HDMI drivers.

I'm basicly stumped and on the breaking point of getting a dedicated video card just to get the audio.
