interview with forza 3 developers provided by me
via joystiq:
Forza 3 director commenting on Gran Turismo:

"So, props to Kazunori Yamauchi-san and the PS1 team," said Greenwalt. "That said," he continued, "I feel that he's passed us the baton. Perhaps he hasn't meant to, but we have taken the genre to new levels and they've stopped evolving the genre. So again, tremendous respect to him, but I'd say the differentiator is they're old school." He conclued, "The emperor's naked, and I don't want to, you know, I don't want to slap him around, but no game competes [with] us right now."

-dang. course he is pushing his product. still seems like a tall order. expectation rising though

"We've also got quite an expansive footprint on the E3 show floor at the Microsoft booth, including two massive triple-screen simulator pods powered by a hydraulic system wired up to our physics engine, providing for a Forza 3 experience you simply can't experience anywhere else. "

There, fixed it for you Polyphony Digital should delay GT5 another year to add Tractor Pulling and Swamp Buggy Racing.

Yeah Nascar seems an odd choice. Typical Japanese way of trying to bring in an American audience? Who knows. Anyway, back on topic great thread so far and I'm curious if it's been said when we'll see a official car list? There are a few I'd be willing to sell my soul for.

I LOVE racing sims and man did I ever spend a ton of time on the last forza release! Can't wait until I play this one!!!

The only negative I've seen so far is the 2 disc thing for Arcade owners. No biggie for me since day 1 it will be installed to the HDD

I'm hoping the limited edition will be available in Canada.
this is def a day off release for me. can't wait to start designing and racing.

would be nice if they awarded previous owners with something special
post #22 of 1200
I am much more of an arcade racer than sim but I find I cant stay away from forza...sadly I have never gotten into GT
post #23 of 1200
Do we know yet how many cars can race with multiplayer? They obviously showed 8 on the track at once at E3 but I really, really hope there will be more than that. Ideally I would like to see between 12 and 16, 16 of course would put it right there with GT5. We know there will be stock cars in the game and if the limit is 8 cars that seems odd and just wrong if they are going after the Nascar type racing as I think there are going to be more ovals this time.
I believe I just found the answer and it's not what I was hoping for

^ Im dissappointed its 8 again, but I understand. There is so much going on with Forza it has to be 8 to keep the game stable online.

I trust the Forza team enough at this point to know they are not keeping it at 8 for no good reason.

I played both previous Forza's till the disks melted. Forza 3 seems tons better. This game will be played non-stop for months in my 360.

Who here plays Forza 2 with the wheel? I've been playing lots of it lately and am considering buying one. And now I'm also suspect, with Forza 3 coming out in October, a new wheel is also on its way. So maybe I should wait.
One video of the 3 screen hydraulic setup from E3 showed a new, I believe 3rd party, wheel that added a clutch pedal. If the clutch pedal doesn't provide some engagement feedback whats the point? Maybe it does, that'd be pretty amazing. Launching without bogging or burning up your wheels in Forza 2 is really awkward.
I don't use the wheel but in case you are interested here is the website to the 3rd party wheels. My friend will be getting the most expensive one, looks pretty sweet.

I use the MS wireless wheel and am perfectly happy with it for Forza 2....
I will say that I stilldo have the problem of bogging or burning the wheels, depending on the car. But I figured I was just a sh*tty driver!

Currently I'm debating how much I want to spend on a racing gamer type chair... I gotta think that $300ish is about the limit.
