Forza 3 - Page 2

Where's the in game pics? Not to big on replay pics.
Hey guys, I am new to the Forza scene. I was wondering if this is a racing simulator game or is it an arcade racer? And I have seen the wheel going for cheap lately. Is it worth it? I didn't get into racing games until I played GT5 Prologue and I use the wheel for that. So how does Forza compare with GT5 in terms of driving, graphics, and the use of the wheel? I mean GT5 is pretty much all I play on the PS3 due to the consoles lack of exclusive or relevant software. So any experiences you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx, look forward to chopping it up in the future with you.

I guess the only thing GT-5 has over Forza 3 is 1080p.

Well, 1280x1080, not 1920x1080.

I'll never buy into the forza hype ever again. Especially after the last nonsense they pulled on us by showing us screens and vids that were far better then what the actual game ended up being like. F2 was a flop. I was a huge fan of f1, and basically bought a 360 early hoping for another great Forza game. Boring tracks, car physics that looked better on a piece of paper then they actually felt ingame, music that was flat out gay, no sense of speed at all, cartoony graphics with overblown lighting everywhere ,horrible jagggies ruining everything, dream tracks from F1 gone, did I mention boring tracks? no cockpit view, and the car models were a mix bag of so so and really bad.

This game will have to prove itself to me this time, and no, I have never played a gt game besides GT5P and I will admit I had more fun with that then I ever did with Forza paintshop 2. But I will say that GT5 is way behind many games in some respect, damage model, car crashes or complete lack thereof, no tire smoke or very little, music still sucks. GT certainly has a lot of catching up to do and not just to Forza, but even many other arcadeish games. It's going to be interesting to see how both of these compare once again, if GT5 ever comes out that is.

If it ends up actually being good, wicked, I'll buy both, but my hopes are not quite so high this time.

Maybe they already do, I been away from the 360 for a long time, prob right after my wheel died. Hoping they will support wheels other then their own. Would be nice if they put in support for the Logi G25. I broke the 1st 360 wheel after about a month of playing Forza 2. Switched back to GTR2 on the PC so I can use my G25. I have a playchair I still have to put together. Had it since Forza 2 and just too lazy to put it together, sad...

GT5 has 16 cars on track at once, will have a few hundred more cars and rally racing and Nascar if you are in to those things. I personally don't care about Nascar but it really would be great if Forza had rally. I guess for rally lovers there will be Dirt 2 out in September.
Rallying in GT has always seemed to be half-hearted to me. I think that rallying is too complex to really do justice to it in a road race game like GT.

and at the expense for frame rate. GT5 is 60fps when you're alone or with only a car or two in frame. Get into a pack of cars with a little bumping going on and it gets real messy.

Damn, man.....bitter much? F2 was awesome. It got many gamers I know into racing games who previously weren't interested. I probably put in more time with F2 than I have with any other game besides Gears 1, and I'm really not a racing fan. To each their own, I know, but calling F2 a flop is a little harsh in my book.

Now that's funny, good one

Well I bought Forza 2 today for cheap. I will try it later tonight. I am bummed out that there is no cockpit mode as I prefer this mode in GT5. Not a big deal really. I like all the menu music and the jazz number just before you start the race in GT5. Some of the driving music is half way decent but some are out right flagrant. I saw the E3 video for Forza 3 and it looks to be very interesting. We will have to see how it pans out when final product ships.

Cheers

Felt the same way. That's why the inclusion of Rally and NASCAR in GT5 does nothing for me.

wow, coming from the racing sim guys, that says a LOT about forza 3.... i'm extremely excited about this now.

I threw in forza 2 last night for a bit. It really runs smooth. Sure, there's some bugs and the in game music is the worst I've ever heard, but it is still a great game. To the guys who expect perfection, go take a spin in your own car. No jaggies, plus cockpit view

lol, its funny... most people i know drive their "dream cars" in game, i typically drive the same cars that i own in real life.

Yeah, my favorite cars to tear up the track in are an Eagle Talon TSi AWD and the rather similar Lancia Delta.

That Lancia, when moved up a class and tuned expertly, is an absolutely incredible vehicle. So easy to drive and it takes off like a rocket.

lancia similar to the talon? please dont insult lancia like that

Bite me! Front engine, AWD with a turbo 4. Ok, you got me that the Lancia is a much uglier car. They aren't similar in that respect.
haha, nothing against the DSM, but the 1-2 lancias were some of the greatest cars of their time.... i really wish i could get my hands on a 16v here stateside.

Eagle Talon TSi is the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX which also is the Plymouth Laser (forget if that ever was AWD) and usually the eclipse is in these games.

I LOVED the Lancia Integrale in FM2. I even bastardized the paint scheme for the misses since she dared me, and I raced my friends in it!

I've been living in Italy since January and sadly I've only seen ONE of these Lancias (parked) here. Sad but true. I'm almost certain that the same Lancias that were in previous will be in FM3. I just hope the E30 M3 is in it from the start!
