Warning: Target's STB7766C = RCA DTA800B1

At the very least it appears that the software in Target's STB7766C (as in "Cow") is almost identical to that in the RCA DTA800B1. Consequently it has the same limitation(s), namely that it has only two aspect ratio options rather than the required minimum of three or more that the STB7766G or STB7766G1 have. RCA should have fixed this long ago. Since the packaging looks identical, I think it's very likely that many people will think they've got a "G" or "G1", when in reality it's a different animal. Fortunately I was able to exchange the box for one of the few remaining "G1" units.

When calling a store to have them hold a box for you I suggest you have the clerk read you the model number on an actual box rather than off of a shelf label.

I wish I would have seen this post yesterday.
I purchased two of them yesterday.
I have not hooked them up yet, but I take your word for the problem.
Unfortunately I used my two coupons.
The only other brand they had was a APEX.

If you decide to trade them (or one) out for an APEX, make sure it's a DT502 and not a DT250 (see the associated threads).

I got one of each. The RCA and the APEX. The APEX seems like it had better features but the picture quality was really poor compared to the RCA. I returned it and got and RCA.

Target only had the two brands. (The Cow is the only model they had)

Now after a week of no problems, the RCA is changing channels by itself. Or its turning off by itself???

...anyone have a clue about that last problem. Is this something digital is susceptible to?
